Cheers for the replies,
I've been reading about and trying to avoid this drug for years now. My derm thinks that something like a 6 month on and
6 month off regime should give me a much more comfortable time. Now I'm about to take the plunge though you realise
obvious questions that you haven't considered before. Such as ... I believe it's ok to dring alcohol in moderation on this drug (unlike methotrexate)
but am not sure.
Anyway, cheers for your replies and well wishing and I hope you too are doing fine
Steve
Good to hear that your Derm is thinking out of the box and devising a treatment plan for you and thinking long term

6 months on and 6 months off Cyclo is a good benchmark

As you adapt to Cyclo and depending on your response, the regime can be changed to take into account BP, changes in blood ALT levels and impact on your skin. I did 30 days on and 60 days off over a 9 year period and am still here to tell the tale

Just remember that it is imperative that you have blood tests monthly and that you are monitored very closely as Cyclo is a silent killer and can sneak up and cause problems. Great care by your Derm Team is a must and you must attend all appointments when required

Yup you can drink alcohol in moderation and although drinking may dilute the effectiveness of Cyclo to some degree, the odd beer won't do you any harm

However if your skin flares after a drink then consider that it may be a trigger and you may have to review your drinking habits. make sure you stay away from grapefruit though as it is contraindicated

Cheers
