It really is in your best interests to buy one. You can not only get your topicals but also moisturisers, bath therapies and shampoos. On top of this, anything else you might need for non-P can be got with it.

This card may well save you a fortune. I pay for mine of DD over the whole year and don't even notice it going out of my account...and everything I need is covered.

It amazes me that most people know nothing about this card...so this is now a ticky topic and please pass the url on in threads and posts where people mention 'the costs of prescriptions'.

Hi SJ,

I have been doing this for some time.

There is another way to save some more money with the PPC.

Waht you do is order the 3 month PPC and order your meds as per normal. Then when the PPC is about to run out reorder your meds. Depending on how long your meds last you should be able to get by on two 3 month PPC's per year.

In this credit crunch it proves a bit of a moneysaver!!

I used to do something like that. My problem was the darn GP was a stickler for not allowing any repeats before the 28 day period for re-ordering was up - would refuse to allow the scrip out until 29 days. It made it quite difficult to order in time for the scrip card to pay out!

That's why I did the DD monthly for one year. Yes, cost me a few more quid but I didn't have to think or stress!

Hello and welcome along, Ester.

You think it might be a good idea to invest in a pre-payment card then?

I live in Wales and thankfully have free prescriptions - but before I did it really was hard to try and pay.  Particularly as my OH suffers asthma and we had to pay for his scripts too.  If I am totally honest though - I don't think the free prescriptions are a good idea - because my GP will act like the candyman - what do you want - need - paracetamol anything and although I am very glad that I do not have to pay, I think it is a huge waste of money when you can go to the GP with a shopping list

I've had one for years, but soon Scotland will be free prescriptions too.

I must have saved myself a fortune with this system.

Anybody know if we are planing to dispense free scrips in England?

Somehow, I doubt it. we seem to be on the way to becoming three independent countries on the same bloody island !!! >:( >:(
