Dear Community,
I am writing to express my views on psoriasis medications. My uncle, now in his mid-fifties, has suffered from chronic psoriasis erythrodermic for the past ten years. After several types of drugs and treatment options, he was recently put on methotrexate, a highly potent immunosuppresant. The drug caused his life to spiral down; as I write this, he lays in a critical care unit on life support after septic shock from an infection he developed by being on such a strong immunosuppresant. The medicine alone did not cause his present condition; he was not fully aware of the ramifications of being on such a potent drug and did not take the precautions necessary to prevent an infection during such a vulnerable state of his immune system. I write this with the hope that others learn from the mistakes we have made. If you are on strong medication, always know the side effects in detail. Let your family members know how the drug can affect your life. Take precautions to safe guard other aspects of your health. Medicine is a boon but it is not without consequences. Know and realize this. Help spread the word.
We are hoping the best for my uncle and for all of you who have suffered through this condition.
