Mens Bits!
« on: September 17, 2003, 02:38:48 PM »
Hi all you men out there

Have met new man in life who like me suffers from p.  However, recently has got p on his 'bits'.  Hasn't plucked up courage to go back to GP to discuss what cream etc he can use on it.

If any of you have any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

As I am a female I don't know a lot about it but if you look in the recreation room, Mattellie has a thread about problems "down there". :-[

I hope that is of help. :D

I find that something like Alphosyl cream helps a lot ...and when the skin is quite red Sudocream (from Boots) is good ...its for nappy rash but its great.

If the p is really stubborn than a mild cortisone cream Eumovate can knock it back.

The difficult thing about having psoriasis on the delicate parts is that the steroids have a more damaging effect than elsewhere, which makes me really reluctant to use them there, for fear of the long term effects. My dermatologist assured me last year that long term use of mild steroids such as dactacort can be used effectively for many years without any noticeable damage being done to the skin.

I dont like the idea of using steroids continuously there to find that in 5 or 10 years time that they no longer work because the skin is so damaged and immuned to the steroids.

Has anybody used streroids 'down below' over a long peroid of time (like 10 years) without the skin becoming immuned to the steroid or becoming irreparably damaged???

I use Trimovate and find just a couple of applications dampens it down enough to cope.  Then just moisturise.

The most embarrising bit of P on your fruit and veg is when you have to go for a pee and you cannot hide it.

Dont mean to be personal but how does P on yr bits and bobs affect your relationship with wives/girlfriends etc?

Just that i have flares 'down below' sometimes and i go get a bit embarrassed about my hubby seeing it/feeling it etc.....i tend to stop all 'proceedings' until its cleared up...obviously not good for a healthy relationship ....

was just wondering thats all......
