Well, it has now been 6 weeks today that I started the Ciclo and there is just one word for it.................wow!!!!!

I would say my body is about 90% clear with only a slight pink tint where the P once was.  As for my scalp I would say it is 100% clear - no P, no pink areas - nothing!!!!

The area that was the worst was my left forearm and this seems to be taking a little more time to go - I would say 80% clear now.

To say I am happy is an understatement.  I have "never" since 15 years old had a clear scalp.  It's so nice to be able to tie it up and not have to worry about what was showing and am now able to wear darker clothes without the worry of having to constantly wipe the lose skin off my shoulders :)

Anyway I still have a few weeks before my follow up appointment (2nd Dec).

As for the side effects.  Apart from what I have posted on here, I have had nothing extra at all and nothing for the past few weeks :)

Anyway I will keep you informed as to how it still goes, and what happens at my next follow up appt - thanks for all your help, you've got me through the worries and fears - but I'm glad i have done it :)

Cic is the best one I have ever had...including Humira, MTX, and many others, It cleared me 100% for 3 years......then the kidneys couldn't take no more so I had to come off it.....worse thing to happen regarding my P...if they could fix the side effect of kidney problems then that would be my cure for this awful problem!

hi a91...

I'm so happy for you.  It's a lovely feeling to have nice clear skin and feel good about yourself.  I love cyclo.  I took 200mg for 3 months and it was the clearest i'd been in 20 years (apart from after the deadsea)

sadly the Derm wouldn't allow me to carry on taking it for fear of long term kidney damage etc

Acitretin 24mg did absolutely nothing.  MTX 15mg not working currently

hope your good skin continues
J

I wouldn't touch MTX or Cyclosporin again.  For me it took 4 months on MTX to see just a little improvement to the skin but horrendous side effects - extremely tired, headaches, problems with liver function etc.  Cyclosporin worked better on the P after about 5 weeks but also caused side effects - sudden growth of dark body and facial hair. Thankfully the side effects disappeared as soon as I stopped the treatment. Many people are in favour of both treatments - but personally I think being covered in psoriasis is a lesser evil.  Sorry to be negative.

I've been on both MTX for 6 weeks and Cyclo for almost 4 weeks and am convinced the cyclo started working within days to a point now I am almost if not clear.  Now the downside I have sufferred the side effects and more worrying my BP is rising on a weekly basis.  Fortunately I have an appt with derm tomorrow so hoping he will reduce the cyclo to a manageable dose that contains the P but will bring my BP down.

Also my GP wasn't very happy prescribing both sets of drugs together, maybe that there was very little communication from the Derm Dep't or the cost to his practice  ::)

I realise that the cyclo was a short term attempt to clear my P and at the point a month ago would have tried anything.  Anyway I'll see what the derm recommends tomorrow.

to follow up on this thread.

I've now increased my MTX dose to 20mg a week and my skin has cleared significantly. has worked as well as cyclo did.
