Proflavanol is not FDA approved ! Here is another health advocate (only in America  ::)) touting claims that an anti oxidant will improve your psoriasis. Wrong. The pharma company USANA are well known for exploiting and manipulating information about their products at the sufferers expense. You'd be better off eating a Mediterranean diet  ;)

Hi - I found patientslikeme which is another place to look for patients with similar symptoms, conditions or on similar drugs. It measures members' experiences over time, providing useful comparisons though it looks like the psoriasis community is only just getting started...

Here's the guy behind it explaining why he started it (quite a touching story)

Apparently drugs companies and healthcare providers are also very keen on the data because the site is trying to measure what they find it hard to measure. For anyone interested, this is to do with the shift to evidence based medicine apparently...

Hi,
I am new to this forum but not new to the hellish world of psorasis. My trouble started about 10 years ago when ( i Think ) the use of hair bleach triggered psorasis to break out on my scalp, i tired the recommended tar based shampoo with little success and with the symptoms worsening i stared using Betacap scalp solution, this worked without problems for years but being a steriod i slowly became reliant on the stuff and going any time longer than a day would become a problem, i saw specialists who reccomended more natural options because betacap was not intended for long term use (8 years of use). The scales have spread to my ears and red patches appeared around my eyes that i have tried and failed to treat with mild steroid creames and just yesterday (xmas day:( ) i woke up to find my whole face bright red, really dry , flaking and extremly sore. Im at a loss as to what has caused it and what can help it. Its clearly a reaction to something or psoraisis has finally taken over my whole head, my usual solution is extremly painful to use on my scalp, it burns and seems to have stopped working and nothing seems to be calming my face, i have had flare ups before but nothing like this. Im seeing a dr tomoro but not holding my breath. Im a student and too skint to go private and 6months waiting on the NHS list is too long. I just want to know if anyone here has had similar experiences or can offer advise to me. Many thanks.

Hi Sam Stefano

I saw a kinesiologist recently who recommended I try Weleda's Copper Ointment (approx. £6.00 a tube). Whilst it has had little positive effect on my scalp, it has worked well on the patches on my face (around my mouth, on the bridge of my nose, my forehead and left cheek). Kinesiology has mixed reviews and any treatment is patient-specific so it would be wrong of me to suggest you follow the same advice I've been given to treat the particular 'symptoms' which are possibly issuing in psoriasis in my case. The kinesiologist I saw, however, has recommended Copper Ointment to all his psoriasis sufferers and he claims all have reported similarly positive results to mine. (I'd be wary of using it too close to the eyes, however). it's worth a try.

I suffered with psoriasis for over 12 years. I tried the medicines, cream etc then 4 months ago I started using this product: Orlden scalp oil. It has changed my life I order it online at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. It is the only thing that has ever worked. It has literally cured me. Everyone with this disease should know about this product.

My experience with medications for psoriasis is that they can work but I feel the side effects are not worth it. I would much rather use natural products and I currently use Mama Nature's Morocco Gold. It has argan oil, neem oil and it has made an amazing difference to my skin. It seems to have healed most of the worse patches. I apply it directly to my skin and pop a few drops in the bath as well. I think any product is a worth a try especially if you have reacxhed a dead end with your condition.
