psoriasis for men or women
« on: November 30, 2011, 08:26:58 AM »
I watched the movie Exposed the other day.
I was wondering for a long time now. Is there a difference between the feelings of a men or a women when having psoriasis.
What do you think and why.

Good question.
Not sure there is a great difference between men and women but I do think there is a difference between individuals as some of us cope with it in varying degrees as it were.
Some with quite high coverage can seem relatively not bothered by it were as some feel overwhelmed by a little coverage.
It depends on the person and the circumstances.

A teenage boy or girl with P on his or her first date is going to feel differently to an older person with the same coverage I would guess though it depends on how the individual is coping and things like how long they have been suffering and how happy they are with their treatment regime etc.

The issues of image and self conciousness (sp) I think affect both sexes nowerdays as the pressure is on both image wise esp during teenage years. TBH I think in the past us boy's were expected to just put up with it and the girls while shown more sympathy over image were expected to cover up with make up etc. I don't remember being asked how I felt about it by the docs etc when young it didn't seem to occur to them to ask  :-\
