Has anyone ever tried sharks cartilage, I have heard some good results on the internet and also in a nutrition book I have they recommend sharks cartilage for P.

Just wondered if anyone else has tried it and if so what results.

Thanks for your help.

Cazi .. I take glucosamine sulphate which is for my joints. There is also glucosamine and chondroitin. The chondroitin is made from either shark cartilege or the trachea of a cow.

The reason for saying that is that shark's are now an endangered species and everyone's beginning to say shark's cartilege should not be used any longer when there are alternatives. Even my osteopath told me to check the source!

Anyroad glucosamine - it seems - is showing real benefit for arthritis sufferers. Chondroitin is also good. I just take the glucosamine on its own and I must say - after four months - my joints (particularly my knees which are just getting old and creaky) are much much better. I do have PA in some joints and my thumbs are also noticeably happier!!

I also used Glucosamine w/chondroitin for PA. It works very well. In fact, i haven't had to use it for a couple of years now. And my PA was so bad that my thumbs had swollen so much in the joints that I couldn't get my gloves on at work!

I tried taking shark cartilage tablets for sometime for my P (I don't have PA) There was no noticeable effect.
