I picked up my very first script of this yesterday.  Was on Dovenex but as they got rid of the ointment I found the cream c**p.  So I asked for Silkis as it still comes in an ointment.

I got the name of it from here so as far as I'm aware its been around awhile

Yep I have tried this and its the same as all the other useless creams that they palm you off with,  it didnt do a thing for me! I have tried all the creams,  and had UVB and and then MTX which didnt work and made me have bad headaches,  now Im on 100mg of Cyclosporin a day and its fab stuff my elbows have calmed down and my legs are really improving,  bloods are fine and pressure is normal,  derm very happy with the treatment....

I was on this about 8 years ago.   My results with this was the same as the others I had tried, initially very good but the P comes back.   I never had the ointment or the very thick cream, it was a bit like silicon.   I'm sure it only worked by stopping air etc getting to the skin, left me feeling horrible and sticky.

I got prescribed it about 5 years ago, so it isn't new at all. But I'm sure I got told not to put it on my face. I treated it in a similar way to dovonex. The tingleing sensation the first time I used it was very odd!

is silkis a steroid?

i got it at my last derm visit but i'm sure he gave me it for my face, but i'm having a mega-flare up and need a stronger steroid, esp for my back. i can feel the burning sensation on my back through my clothes  >:(

Silkis isn't a steroid.  Lots of people get Protopic for P on the face,   but I've only ever had hydrocortisone for mine (a weak one) and it works for me.

Neither Silkis or Ddovonex works on my P,  just makes it very red,  though flake free.
