UVB - Itching!
« on: January 17, 2012, 09:50:15 AM »
I'm in the last two weeks of my light treatment and I've started getting really itchy! All my skin is sore, even where its cleared up and over the weekend, even though I hadn't burned, my skin was just like tender. If that makes any sense? Has anyone else had this before?

Yup!
I found a daily hayfever tablet helped, especially at before bed xx

Although not related to light treatment I'm scratching myself to peaces at the moment. I not sure if its been mentioned on this site but "Benadryl" tabs have helped a lot.l

Yep hayfever tabs, the doc might be able to prescribe some stronger ones than in chemist.

Also a big tube of aloe vera gel kept in the fridge was my saviour

Thanks guys!

Time wise, I've got to the longest I've ever managed in the actual uvb box thingy and the nurses go really careful about increasing my time. I'm repeating doses at the moment beucause I've started going a bit pink. Noticed a few patches coming back too but I'm hoping they'll get blasted in the last coupld of weeks or treatment!

I've been really itchy too, you're not alone. I am on treatment number 16 or something like that and have never enjoyed scratching more! :D

It can drive you insane, the itch from UVB.  The hayfever tabs are a good idea.  You should try and keep your skin as cool as possible too.  I don't know where you have the itch,  sometimes I'd get it all over and other times it would mainly be my calves, especially when I wore my long boots.

Use cold moisturiser, and when very itchy,  run a cool shower head over the hot skin.  It works a treat, but like the moisturiser doesn't last a great amount of time unless you keep cool.  For me it's the only bad bit about UVB . . . . . .apart from all the travelling  ::)

DON'T SCRATCH IT.  :P
