Thanks very much, Pieman!  :)

Latest update: it's been just over 4 weeks since first injection and just had 2nd injection 2 days ago.

I think I can say with some degree of certainty that there has been improvement!  ;D

Definitely less red overall, some areas still redder than others, but turning to a shade of pink in many places. Definitely less scaling and shedding, flakes being shed are much smaller and finer. Itching is also significantly reduced, although it is still there. Pain associated with dryness, cracking, etc. has almost entirely gone (actually it had already begun to lessen in week 3), which makes a huge difference! There are some small areas that have begun to flatten out and are almost smooth, but still rough in most affected areas. Patches are still well-defined. No complete clearance in any areas yet.

Annoyingly though, the places where I want it to work the most, i.e. the most visible places - the face, neck and hands, are being the most stubborn and are still quite red with raised rough patches.  >:(  Definite improvement on the face, but still visibly pink.

I just hope now that the improvement will continue. Will see whether the 2nd shot has any effect in accelerating the change.

Stelara has already made a difference to how bearable it is, although for £10000 a year, I expect a lot more! I know, I'm not the one paying for it!  ;D

Next dose is not due now for another 12 weeks.

Hey there JB. Yes, I'm in the UK. I seem to remember reading somewhere (can't remember exactly where) the rough cost to the NHS for a year's course of Stelara was about £10000.

It was also mentioned on this forum:

Don't know if the cost has come down at all in the last few years.

the government pays the price of the 90mg jabs as the same price as the 45mg so the 90mg is around £4500

G'Day all, long time no post,  why I just felt I was just being boring because I had nothing to submit, anywho The Derm gave me a 90mg injection of Stelara and approved me for aonther two scripts for more Stelara back in Oct 11 at the time my PSI scorce was way down to only 2.5 joy O' joy the P was really disappearing so the Derm said let's speed this up a bit and put me back on the dreaded MTX.  MTX had a averse effect whereas my P increased and my latest score PSI is now at 12.5 (Dec 11) subsequently the Derm was unable to give me a new script for the Strelara and and is trying to arrange for a complementary script from the company.

The good news is since I stopped taking MTX and the with the last injection of Stelara (with no MTX combined) the P is once again on the decline, my next visit to the Derm is in 3 weeks time in order to see if my PSI score is down to the Govt approval score of 7.5.

All the very best always

G'Day,

All good news, saw the Prof. Derm yesterday whereas I was to get a complimentary injection of the Stelara (called a compassion script) due to a high score (pasi) of 11.5 on my last visit per the MTX  I had received to go with the Stelara of which I have been on for 2 years now, before I was given the script for the MTX (third time around) my PASI was down to (2.3 the best ever).  The Govt medicare would have dropped my $33.80 ($9,800) script if I was over 7.5 PASI hence the compassionate script, but at yesterdays assessment my score PASI is now 4.5 after having stopped the MTX 6 weeks ago. yes it is a good day.  :)

The prof Derm did ask a hell of a lot of personal questions such as mood swings, personal feelings and of my day to day motivation, this I was told is because Stelara side effects is still of a unknown long term factor, all google alerts that I have received have been positive in regards to this drug, I would never to go on MTX again, the Prof Derm told me that the MTX does work for a high percentage of P suffers, not all.  Mind you the frist time I when on MTX for six months it did get rid of my P arthritis

Stay happy, stay well, drink beer by the seashore, it helps;D
