Hi

I seldom place comments on here but this is a very interesting thread that has caused me to think about an issue I hadn't even acknowledged before.  I accept all the arguments put forward regarding the particular difficulties gay men with psoriasis may face.

We all form opinions based on our own experiences which is why I feel the group who face the biggest challenges are young women with moderate to severe psoriasis, for obvious reasons.  I say that as a 50 year old who barely acknowledges his own psoriasis with a 17 year old daughter who is devastated by the effects of her p.

That said,  I shouldn't generalise. Essentially, coping with p is a personal thing, irrespective of who or what we are, and we all have our own coping mechanisms.

All the best

Well written Steve, perhaps you could encourage your daughter to visit here, she may benefit by interacting with others within her age group; and learn some important coping mechanisms from how to conceal via makeup to revealing to people who impact on her life ...

I look at my 7 and 10 year old girls and it fills me with dread to think they may have it and will get it in their teenage years.  Especially due to the fact that my mother-in-law has it (albeit mildly) and I have been ravaged by it in my teens.

I am gay with Psoriasis. Ive not read through the hole thread but get the convo. I don't think its harder being gay with Psoriasis the being straight. Or at least unless you immerse yourself into the gay community (that can be quite judgmental). I tend to spend my time away from the 'gay community' and I've never had a problem. I can understand though and if anyone wants to message me for a chat feel free, those of you up north (manchester or close) do feel free to message me, thats where I currently reside  ::)

I agree with you to some extent, but I do hope your daughter finds some relief talking to girls on here of the same age, or older for that fact. Sometimes talking to someone who understands the same as you; gay, straight, male or female is a life saver. It's so hard at 17, I know how it is to have friends to say 'take your jacket off its boiling' without them knowing you have P. Hope your daughter finds some comfort here!!

hi mark i am a gay cub from bury i am in manchester regular. i have had a bad experiance once and basically it was enough to bring me to tears. i felt like i had plague psoriasis not plaque psoriasis !! he refused to touch me and i explained it couldnt be caught and was just like exzma but he was not a very nice chappy. unfortunatly there are people out there like that who are very shallow and superficial :-(
i admit my friends are great and we joke about it i always say with my scales im the only mammal you could hunt and skin and have both a fur coat and a handbag lol
if anyone other guys would like to chat feel free to message me !
