« on: July 29, 2004, 08:25:46 AM »
hi,

did any body see that programe on bbc1 last night
i  will not even goining to try and print the name of the
brain enfection, but all had sore throat, most had been to there gp with a sore throat, and told it was streptococcus, and blood tests later also proved +
wich had sent the imunne system to fight against
itself.and we all know what stept is also connected
to p perhaps this explains my funny turns, seeing
my neruo' wont commit there diagnoses i will put it to them and have my blood checked for stept and
i will keep you informed

was that the one about Encephalitis Lethargica?   Saw most of it but not the last 5 or 10 minutes  (visitor talking).  Very interesting programme - think they were just talking about strep when I got interrupted so missed from then on.  Saw up to where Philip, the elderly man,had died and his sister had donated his brain for research.

Encephalitis is a herpe virus. It can be pretty devastating...

My boss' daughter had chicken pox at 18 months and got the brain version of Encephalitis . She nearly died (50% of kids with it do). She is now left brain damaged, autistic and epileptic (but gorgeous and charming too!).

It is more common to get it after measles (thus the insistence kids have the jabs...).

I didn't see the programme. Wish I had. It sounded interesting.

hi,all
what a morning
got a phone call from my dauther it was a cry for help
got cellulitis in both legs bad, rushed to ger aid, dcs were
busy but would see her if she got there
had sore throat start of wk, any way the doc called me in
left grand dauther playing with toys
they want her to go into hosp/but i am not well enouth
to take care of kids dogs etc' they were concerned' because
her blood test proved + for streptococcus group a and her temp 41.anyway we agreed that if it moved past the lines
they had drawn we would get hosp, it took 5min to get back
and the redness and swelling and gone past the lines
i phone the doc, telling them they had prescribed week
antibiotics and after a loud debate agreed on stronger
i know they say we take to many anti's but if gp's prescibed
the right strong combination prehaps we could kill of
this stepto/and other bacteria and we would'ent keep
goining down with this diff imunne/infection/diseases
well no phone call as yet, wife should be there bynow

well as in some early'er posts i mentioned my dauther's p
and cland/fever an cellulitis, now its even more intresting
that she had sore throat and now been confirmed stepto/
my gp's have never taken my bloods when i have had a sore throat and  p flareing and painful ? i wonder
wopps phone      bye

hi, elaineGand all
yep she's in hosp
now iv'e got a bit of time{ not to well all the chas/ing round}
i called in on my 3rd eldist/brov,who ad a heart attack aged 39
caused by strepto/attacking the heart mucles, he started to tell about my yougest brov you was rushed into hosp same time has me diff hosp he his still in and all his probs are same as mine but no diagnoses as yet.well iwill try and contact him
and tip him of about having blood test for strep etc and demanding a mri etc if they havent done so
which brings me to gp's do they check, like when they ask
any other members of family etc, or if you tell them
when i asked to my gp and hosp for my notes even though they did not give me them all there was no mention of large family
with genetic diseases etc heart compliants etc ec

sorry to go on
but for instance iv'e a spot on brain and a white spot on lower spine etc up untill just recently if you had 2 funny turns ie
optic neritis/numbness etc and 2 white spots/liesons etc
they would diagnose ms
now the returns from post mortums/ shows 99 out of 100
post/mort/ have white spots but there medical records
record  show no funny turns etc .so  there findings are they do not no what these white spot are. and  there nothing to do with the immunne system.
i can visulise my next app with neruo well david i am not saying i dont belive you had this turns but these white spots on your mri
we no that they are nothing to do with your probs, which we thought they was,   and i will be back in limboland
the end well sort of

When my P flared really badly I had swabs taken and each time it has shown strepo whatdo you call it, for which I have had to take stronger and stronger antibiotics. Luckily (?) for the past 18 months I haven't had a really bad throat.  But it's quite worrying what you say, and I hope everything goes ok!
