can anyone please help Im very worried
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:38:55 PM »
MY ankles have been swollen and I saw my GP on MOn , she said it certainly looks like arthritus to her, but today the swelling on both ankles are allot worse and are very painfull, the pain feels like a very deep aching pain but much worse, and are very tender to touch,  this morning the stiffness seemed to last allot longer but did easy slightly once I started to get going, but the aching has een with me all day and seems to be getting more painfull at this time.MY p has gone very red, shiny and has like a bluey tinge to it. Has anyone any idea what this could be. I have a rhumy appointment in march but this is the soonest I can get an apointment, I have enquired about going private but, it is far to expensive for me and can only get an apointment 2 weeks earlier, than the one I already have with the same specialist.
any advise please

Oh dear Shaza

sorry to hear you're in so much pain

the redness/shininess may be due to the area being so swollen
Try a soak in a nice warm bath and some gentle ankle rotations to help you get going in the morning
good luck with the rheum appointment

sorry not much help..............

I hope you managed to see someone about your annkles, it sounds like more than arthiritus to me, though I hope I am wrong.  Sounds like the swelling could be caused by severe water retention which could be quite serious - not that I want to worry you, but my mum was the same.
Let us know how you are.
