Dead Sea Bath!!
« on: September 21, 2002, 11:21:50 AM »
I have been reading the threads about going to the Dead Sea and have come up with a great cost saving idea!
I am going to fill up my bath with water, add 18 bags of salt, 1 bag of minerals and some mud from my garden. Then turn up the central heating, bring in my tub of p creams/ lotions and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and float in my bath for around three weeks.
What do you reckon???
Anyone fancy having a go and reporting back ;D ;D ;D

Well, it's not as dumb as it sounds (hehehehe). There is nothing stopping anyone buying salt and adding it to the bath and lazing for as long as possible (at least half an hour). Better that it is real dead sea salt (expensive but good stuff), but good old epsom salts do it too....

Hmmm, not sure about the mud from the garden...

As for the mineral, how about vodka and tonic? (the tonic is called a mineral at my local!). Instead of Shakespeare (read it too much), I shall take in MaCarthy's Bar I think - darn fine crack of a read!

LOL jh! ;D ;D ;D

I'm in - only prob... I don't have a garden..... And I've always been told reducing stress levels are good for P..... I'm also into essential oils at the mo.....

So I think my ingredients would be.....

Jacuzzi, salt, a window box with a lavender and a geranium (just plonk the lot in, the window box itself may contain some minerals), a large mug of tea (made with mineral water of course), and the complete works of Sir Peter Ustinov as a destresser ;D

;D ;D ;D

Anyone else wanna come?

;D

Last year I came across an article in the Daily Mail about "alternative" health spa type places.  One in Chiswick, West London, caught my eye - they do a 'jacuzzi' style bath with Dead Sea Salts.  I spent a couple of happy Sunday mornings bubbling under ultra violet lights in a hot salty bath.  It was lovely :-*

Yep, that's the place. :) Can recommend it - but they will try and sell you lots of their stuff (naturally).  I used to go on a Sunday morning, as it was quite easy to park then; Saturdays Chiswick is very busy.  You jump in what is a very hot bath which has dead sea salt already added, then a canopy with the ultraviolet light is lowered(safety glasses provided), and you switch the jets in the bath on and get nicely pummelled.  You do a 'kebab' type thing, and turn around in the bath so all of your "bits" get the lights on.
Dressing gown, towels all provided, you are in a completely private room with no interuptions.
Hmmm, think I might make another appointment and go again soon ;)

Hi there:
Love the idea you had.
Suggest food and drink supplies for the duration.
How about a drip over the shower rail with your favourite alchol fed into it, and a dumb waiter so you can have food hauled up into the bathroom, and then you would have no need to leave the bath.
NB. ( When I say 'dumb waiter' I am refering to that small type lift on a pully, not the person, just incase irritate waiters are on the war - path.!!!!)

Must dash,
Rachaelmm.
