Hi,

I'm really considering this but would just like to ask people from their personal experience, what differences might I hope to expect to experience from a visit to the Dead Sea to a holiday in any other hot country eg Egypt.

Many thanks

RULE 1: Don't mention the 'H' word!!!!! (you'll be pleased to get back to work after your DS trip...........if you do it properly you'll be at breakfast by 6am, lie in the 50 degree sun til 4pm with a break for lunch, then a night of moisturising.........it's an easier life in Guantanemo Bay........or so i'm told!).

Thanks Heli-pilot

So far a similar to pattern in Egypt although we do occassionally go snorkelling which I guess can be substituted for a short dip in the DS.  ;D

Have you noticed any differing effects on the P ?

Hi Radar,

There are 2 main differences, one is the Dead Sea with its mineral content and secondly the unique sunshine.

The Dead Sea evaporates very quickly in the heat causing a mineral haze which hangs over the sea and filters the suns rays. This enables longer, safer exposure to the sun using only oils and not sunscreen.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Everyone, I have been to the Dead Sea 3 times (2004/5/8), all on the Israeli side, with great results.  I am interested in going to the Jordanian side but I'm not clear, from this thread, as to why people prefer Jordon to Israel, therefore, any comments will be greatly appreciated.  Rob

Hi Trebor,

Just about everything is better ;)

Food you can actually eat
Clean, well maintained hotels
Friendly and helpful hotel staff
Friendly non p fellow guests
Solariums that have numbers limited so it does not resemble a cattle market with plenty of beds for everyone
and not a cockroach to be seen anywhere... ;)
Always look on the bright side
