Derm
« on: October 10, 2002, 10:10:40 PM »
Sorry to gloat, but I've got to share my great news...

I've got me another appt to see my derm, and most probably go back on the UVB treatment... YEAY!  ;D

Had a course of treatment a few yrs ago, but couldn't complete it due to university commitments. Now I've finished my course, I'm able to do it again... and PROPERLY this time. She's fully booked until early Nov, but I'm already hopping up and down in anticipation.

Sorry again, but it's just bloomin' lovely to be able to share this with people who understand ;)

wicked news Vix. My GP doesn't want to refer me to a derm as he says my P is too mild. I think that's c**p. At 17, living with me all over your legs, arms, torso, scalp, hands and toes is really bloody severe!

It's practically torture!

Great news Vix! Go for it girly and be brown for Christmas  ;D

Dani, get back to your GP and demand to see a derm...even if he/she decides not to send you for UV, you have every right to be referred.

I have an appt. with my derm on Monday. Not for anything particularly important, but I am determined not to get signed off as many hospitals seem to do after successful treatments such as the PUVA I had...I don't see why they shouls do that when 1. I am on MTX and 2. I am obviously going to need a derm for referral back to UV next year. I am not waiting 6 months+ just to get an appt when I should be able to see one within a month or 2 if on the books!

Dani, the last time i saw my GP, I asked for an appointment
with a derm, he said no because the waiting list was too long - so what - he didn't even examine me for P yet he still gave me two big tubes of Dovobet - wouldnt you think giving me that much Dovobet at £50 a tube would warrant seeing a derm - doctors, they haven't a clue.

Colin

Do you think it is possible that GPs are under orders NOT to refer people (how ever much they need it) because of waiting lists ie. to keep the waiting lists UNDER the prescribed number the government determine?

I had never really thought about it before, but it seems such a strange thing for a doc to say. I mean, if you need a derm, you need a derm...it's not the GP who has got to wait 6 months, is it? What does he/she really 'care'?

Hmmm
