Dermo appointment
« on: January 30, 2004, 12:50:29 PM »
Hi
I went to see the dermo this morning and felt it was a complete waste of time, I sat and waited for an hour and half before seeing him he was that far behind.I told him how much I was suffering with my the p on my legs at the moment and about the swelling, he asked which GP had given me the steroids and if he had referred me to a rhumy, he wasnt sure at all what the swelling was caused through, his comment was, I dont know much about fibromyalgia and if that could cause this, the swelling in your ankles could be arthritus or gout, he didnt ask any questions apart from did it hurt and was it tender. He has cancelled all my uvb treatment until the swelling has gone and have been seen by the rhumy. that was it, he didnt even look at my skin properly just the bottom half of my legs, what about the top half and around my back and bottom does that not matter, it was as if he wasnt interested and im sure this is all because I alos have Firomyalgia? so Im really fed up still no answers no nothing, what a waist of time. Sorry Im really annoyed, it would have been differant if I had been paying for it.

When I have been to the derm they have only wanted to see the worst bit, usually my legs, but last time I went I had 3 medical students there (none of them knew what p was) so to show them what p was I gladly stripped off to make a point! My GP is normally only wants to see a bit (think thats down to waiting times!) but last time i showed him it all and he quickly got me referred.

Sorry to hear that you're having a rough time!

purhaps it would be better to make an appointment with the vet, certainly wouldnt have to wait as long for the appointment, I forgot to mention when I last had my uvb treatment the lady there did refer me to the p nurse, I hae to see her next week, it does make me wonder though, how can the dermo possibly make an accurate diognoses when he only looks at 1 little spot through a magnifing glass, he didnt even ask about the rest of my body on the first appointment.
I have tried to put some pics on but I cant find them
