Do you find psoriasis stops you doing activities you enjoy?
« on: February 28, 2008, 11:57:22 AM »
Hi,
I have had psoriasis for years and feel that it stops me sometimes doing activities I would otherwise enjoy if I was not worried about revealing my skin to others. I suppose I am afraid of other peoples reactions.

I am also a  mature Occupational Student. Occupational Therapists understand the importance of taking part in activities as crucial to an individuals wellbeing.

As a result I have decided to do my research project for my studies about the ways in which psoriasis stops or affects people taking part in life enhancing activities.

If you, or a group of you, can relate to the above in some way and live within a reasonable distance of Shrewsbury/ Chester/Mid wales boarder would you be willing to meet, in an agreed safe place, of course, to talk about it?

Please let me know if your interested.

Cheers

Hello Tim

I am having difficulty sending information about my research via the personal link. It states it is out of its realm but Im not sure what that means. Any suggestions?

Just to reassure you I had already approached  the PHO team to gain permission to use the forum  for my research recruitment before I even thought about posting anything about it.

I hope its still ok. If not let me know.

Thanks

Hi Irwin
Sorry if you have already let Michael know about your project, you can understand me checking though. :)

You wont be able to send any IM's until you have made 5 posts then you will be able to message other members, this is a precaution against the Spammer's that try and use the IM system to bombard members with info on products.

Hello Irwin,

I've got used to being a flakey now, and tend not to let it worry me..... too much.

When you are at you 'techno' try rolling your sleeves up once you've been there a while... You'll be surprised when no one mentions your P to you.... and if they do educate them !

There is a group of us meeting in Birmingham on Saturday.... Short notice I know... But your welcome to tag along. Have a look in the chit chat and announcement boards for more info !

I don't go to the swimming pool because of my skin  :'(   but I do swim at the beach in fact I like to surf if we get a bit of good weather.  I am quite happy to walk around in shorts on the beach or at home.  One of the reasons I don't like going to the swimming pool is that the chlorine sting like hell where I have been scratching.  I even work as a delivery driver for some local takeaways, I just stay out of the kitchen.  I even work on my car myself the oils don't seem to bother me and I am use to losing chunks out of my knuckles.  I was a car mechanic but no one will give me a job as one when I have psoriasis on my hands.  That reminds my when I worked for the Civil Services I had a 3 year probation period because of my Psoriasis in case it effects my ability to work  ;D  more like there poor wages.

If you are at the 'techno' and roll up you sleeves the UV light makes you psoriasis scales look like white glitter.
