Extremely Frustrated w/ Flare Up (pictures attached)
« on: November 21, 2009, 05:35:58 PM »
I’m sorry to report that my psoriasis has begun to revert back to its previous (pre-UVB treatment) state the past few weeks. I have been travelling a lot for work and have not had many opportunities to do phototherapy (two times in the past three weeks).

I’m just shocked at how quickly the psoriasis has reappeared in the areas that had cleared up. I know that I have not done phototherapy sessions the past few weeks, but I’m still quite surprised. My legs, Thighs, Arms, and Buttocks are bad again :(

To make matters worse, the Protopic has stopped working on my genitals.  All in all, a bad couple of weeks for me.

I'm pretty bummed out about things :(

Sorry to hear this Dan - it's rubbish isn't it that weeks of effort can be undone so easily.

You know as well as the rest of us that sometimes you need to alternate treatments so maybe try some Daktacourt or Trimovate down below for a bit of relief.

Hopefully you will feel positive enough soon to start making a plan of action for the next steps.  I guess it's too soon again to do UVB.  All the best - hope you get some relief soon.

It is really frustrating when it all starts to come back.  I've got to the point where I am no longer frustrated, rather resigned to the fact that it will start to fight back at some point.

Iv had UVB and it all came back within a few weeks. Fortunately my genitals are clear (too much info ;D) the times it has appeared one night of a eumovate massage and its well gone.

goodness, what a total pain. I hate that feeling that I have to rely so heavily on treatments are we are kind of at their mercy. I hope you can step up the UVB again and hopefully bring it back under control.
What do you use for the rest of your skin when you are away? Don't suppose you go to hot countries so you could get out into the sun instead?

I completely agree Ana!  The UVB had been working so well that I was not using anything but Protopic for my bits.  I so wish that I lived in a warmer country and get out into the sun more.

I am attaching a few pictures of the flare up that I took this past weekend.

Hey Dan,
that middle picture of your knees looks just like my upper arms right now! Snap!! Plus I have some lovely spots coming up mid forehead.  I've just been to the dr and they have given me steroid creams again - sigh. I can't even be bothered to get the prescription yet, I just get really fed up of using the stuff and then promptly rebound flaring when it has stopped, just like you said Breenger (welcome to this lovely forum by the way!!).
Hang in there Dan and hope it gets better. Does alcohol help at all?? (if only...)

Hi Dan

Like you I have been having a really bad flare up, it has been like this for the last 12 months.  Went to see Derm in January this year, suggested phototherapy which couldn't start for 2 months,  Went through hell while I waited.  I had to go 3 times a week for 6 weeks but by the time I was finishing my course it came back. Went to see Derm hoping to go on tablets, she wanted me to try coal tar before she put me on tablets, was very reluctant but agreed.  Only used it twice and it made my P worse, had a bad reaction to it.  Anyway, I can't use any cream now cus everything I put on makes it worse, seeing D again in 5 weeks with a view to going on Acitretin.  Can't wait.
