Finger method of application of steroids/dovanex
« on: July 30, 2004, 08:42:05 PM »
I was shown a chart at my local derm dept.  It was how much to apply?  They based it on your own index finger.  It was something like 2xfor an arm 3x for a leg, even face to the first joint. How many have seen this?

The 'newer' boxes of Dovonex/Dovobet and a few other topicals now print the 'finger' application amounts in the leaflets containing info on products.

I think it is quite useful for some...but I know many here find it very difficult to 'ration' out 100mg per week of Dovonex/Dovobet when their P is widespread! It's like you think 'hmmm, which bit of my P is going to be zapped because I haven't got enough of this stuff to go all the way around'!  :-/

I agree,  I find that the only way I can get anyway near that is if I apply over epaderm.

It is a good idea to moisturise well before applying the sticky-don't-go-very-far-and-I-can't-use-too-much topicals...they penetrate better, go further and feel better.

It is also recommended by the derms...
