HELP!!! It is now unbearable
« on: January 23, 2012, 11:50:49 AM »
Morning All

Please help, I can't take this for much longer. I currently have this not a very nice person disease everywhere except my face, in large red dry patches, which is now becoming unbearable. The itchyness and lack of sleep through it is beginning to annoy me.

Next week i start my course on Ciclosporin, but I am after some tips to get rid, e.g. diet, lifestyle, supplements, witchcraft, anything etc.

A bit of info on me before you ask, I am 24, healthy, train at the gym 5 days a week, eat healthy, take protein shakes (if that helps for supplements i take). Bad points, i smoke (dont advise me to quit, it's not going to happen), and at every other weekend, drink a fair bit

I am determined to get rid of this, this year as I want to join the armed forces, so any extra advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

are you sure you want advice?
you ask for it in the 2nd paragraph but in thr 3rd you dont ???

my advice would be to stop smoking and to lay off the drink for a while to give the ciclo the best change of working.

I am after advice, but I knew people would say stop smoking, that's the only thing that I probably won't change, but as for diet and things, anything that people have found help, like eating a particular food or not eating one

In that case have a look at the alternative boards and do some reading. There is tons of stuff there about diets.
Personally I don't think diets do anything for P but others will strongly argue that.

Ciclo doesnt take too long to work anyway, i think in a few weeks you could be seeing some progress  :)

I smoked for 8 years since my p got bad I quit have gone 3 weeks without a cig now... Have noticed improvement! Maybe it's unrelated but I quid because if it's that important to get rid of it and all the signs point to it helping then I wanted to do it... I knew I needed to quit anyway so I had some will power I know it's hard but I really think it has something to do with mine calming down keep cut out one cigarette a day xxx

Steelem is absolutley correct.

Diet and Vit D 3 supplement is the way to go.

Have a look at my post ''Ive beaten Psoriasis'' in this forum section and it outlines broadly what you need to do.

Medicines ...oral or topical will never work. You must cure P from within.

Alcohol is one of the worst things for P. You have to consider cutting back if your serious about beating P.

Cheers for the messages

I may consider quitting smoking but at this moment in time, it's the only thing that relieves the stress from the intense itchyness.

As for my diet I eat a lot of pasta, chicken, fish, red meat, white and brown bread, dairy, and the odd bad thing like pizza or a curry or something, usually after a skinful. I have cut down on my drinking a hell of a lot since its got worse, and i definately notice the difference, less dry and painful when i haven't had a drink.

Anybody tried anything else, i'm a bit scepticle about things like dead sea salt and stuff like that, I think it is a con but if there is evidence of it helping, i may consider it.

I had psoriasis when i was a child it dissappeared when I was around 13. i drank and smoked took drugs etc etc all through my teenage years drank and smoke for most of my 20s as well. Gave up smoking a few years ago but still had at the weekends went out drinking. Gave up drinking last year due to becoming pregnant. Had baby still not had a drink or smoked. Now my psoriasis is back ! Think in gonna start drinking again lol. There might be something in taking more vitimans esp vitiman d. Im currently breastfeeding and I read that a women needs more vitimans esp calcium and vitiman d while breastfeeding as the baby takes all ky good stuff. I have never taken any suppliments  nor have I been outside much etc and now.I'm wondering if I'm lacking in these vitimans which has caused it to return.   Probably clutching at straws but its maybe work taking extra vitiman d. I'm going to try it and see what happens.
