How long after a sore throat did you get a flare?
« on: January 11, 2012, 09:19:33 AM »
I had very bad tonsillitis last week (been taking antibiotics for it). I was wondered how long it will be before I have a flare. Do you think that it will be really severe?
I have noticed 1 or 2 tiny new p patches but am wondering how much worse it will get?
Does anyone have any tips on how to stop/reduce a flare?

Thanks,
Dev

You wont necessarily have a flare after a sore throat or tonsilitis. It's just that many people found that they developed psoriasis after a strep throat or tonsilitis. Best way to stave off a flare is to maintain a healthy diet and keep vit D levels up.

I'd agree you won't necessarily get a flare, but when I did following strep throat it took four weeks for it to kick off. Hope you will just get your couple of spots.

Does anyone else get strep then the psoriasis comes and never goes.  Ive only had strep twice and both times had P all over. the first time it came and never went and the second time even more came on top of what was there previously.   Had virtually no p before that.

I had a strep throat a bit back, and 2 weeks later, i was covered head to toe in guttate!

But that said, not so long ago I had a strep throat, and it passed me by...

It's very much the luck of the draw :(

I had a terrible throat for about a week, one of those that you expect to have peaked and will be better the next day. The 'next day' never came and after suffering for a week (by this time I could not even swallow my saliva) my mum called a doctor out and and with in 10 minutes I was in hospital. I should point out that I had been working away from home at the time otherwise I would have done something sooner.

I had already noticed a few dots appearing but did not give them a second thought at the time.

The hospital said I had Quinsys (sp)? and kept me in hospital for 3 days and by the 2nd day I was covered by these 'red dots' :(

I asked the nurse what they might be and she just said 'oh, thats only psoriasis, see your GP when you get out'. I honestly expected to be given a packet of pills and the rash would be gone in a day or two ::) ::) ;D

Sorry, that was a very long winded way of saying my p actually flared while I was in the middle of my throat problem and that was 30 years ago now  :(

oh, well. I suppose I will have to wait and see.
Have seen 2 or 3 new spots appearing will have to monitor whats going on in the next couple of weeks although I think that I have tonsillitis again as my throat is hurting again. Will have to go and see Dr after work!
