It is certainly true that Dovonex ointment is considered to be far more effective than the cream although they are probably the same "strength" also. I think the clue is in the word "effective" rather than strength or potency. I suspect that a steroid ointment would be more effective than a cream.
Either of SJ's or rachd's theories could be correct. Perhaps the greasiness of the ointment acts to some extent like occlusion which is known to boost the action of steroid preparations.

Eumovate ointment I used to settle my Erythemic Psoriasis down.

Deemed short contact ...

Use sparingly and stop as soon as job is done.

According to my Derm that is.

 Thankyou everyone for the advice. Made an apponitment with G.P, thats exactly what happens, the moment i stop using the eumovate it comes back so yeah i use it continuously. But I shall see what my options are tomorrow with the doc.
