is this scalp psoriasis?
« on: January 19, 2012, 12:43:27 AM »
Hey, could someone have a look at this photo and tell me if its scalp psoriasis? I haven't had it for many years, not since I was about 13. I've just had my 2nd child 6 months ago and I'm breastfeeding. I'm gutted if it has returned. I had it really bad on my face eyes.head knees elbows arms. I don't know what to do and I'm embarrased about it. I wondered if it was becuase I'm breastfeedingand hormones are all over the place ? Oh forgot to say I'm now 30. Anyone any tips on how to get rid of it ?  :(oh it never returned with my first child but I had her when I was 18 and didn't breastfeed for as long as I am now.

It certainly looks like scalp P I'm sorry to say.  I would advise visiting your G.P. Bettamousse or another scalp solution may be an option. You may have to have a bit of trial and error with shampoos.
Best of luck.

Aww gutted :( will it spread to my face ? I can't really remember much about having it last time. I used polytar though, will get some of that.  Wonder why it has come back after all these years. I'm considering stopping breastfeeding in the hopes that it will go away but I will feel bad for him and  what if stopping makes it worse!  Grr.  How do u guys all cope with having it?

It doesn't always go on the face. Mine did, but only after I'd have it for about 10 years. I can control it there with creams thankfully.

Mine is pretty severe, it's all over my head. I put a softening cream on my scalp, leave it on over night and then get a flea comb and try to comb out the excess flakes (sounds gross I know) so that it isn't so noticeable. I also have something called Xamiol which is a steroid treatment I think, but not 100% if it works at all.

I know it is treatable, I seem pretty resilient to most things though sadly. I'm sure you'll find something that works!

As for stopping breastfeeding, I haven't a clue whether that helps or not as I've not had any children yet. But don't feel bad for him, he won't know :)

Don't think I will be able too  any steroid bases stuff until I stop breastfeeding there was even a warning about using polytar while breastfeeding lol . Will see how.I get on with the polytar !.
