Mobility
« on: January 25, 2012, 11:27:27 AM »
I have recently been diagnosed. I have had problems for a long time, but more recently things have escalated quite rapidy. Does anyone know if there is an organisation which may be able to help me with the purchase of an electric bike? I of course expect to pay for it myself but was wondering if anywhere helps people like us with getting a good price? Any pointers in the right direction would be most appreciated

Hi Shandy
I would try to go thru ur gp or hospital social worker and occupational therapist.  In our experience the social worker requires alot of chasing but the occu therapist was brilliant. She came and saw what was needed and they were there the following week.

Like you say you'd probably have to pay for a motorised bike but they could recommend somewhere or see whether they could contribute.

Thanks guys. It's still early days yet as only recently diagnosed, so all components of care are not in place yet, but I will follow up the tips

No Mouldilocks. No side cart yet, but I promise when the day comes if we need mobility scooters that we will get custom made ones that look like Harleys. Wacky races here we come >:D!
