Hi Sheepful,

I think there is probably complaint procedures available to you in Germany similar to that within the NHS.  If I was spoken to like that I would definitely issue a complaint against the Derm.  Don't take any sh*t from them.

Cheers,
Trev

cheers Trev,

unfortunately the complaint procedures are a lot better than in Germany :-[
I talked to my insurance company (because my derm also recomended to switch insurances because mine was supposedly not a good one ... ty >:() and they said they could issue and official "dissuasion" or complaint against him, but I don't want them to do that because if they did I doubt that he would treat me anymore ... and after all - he really IS a good derm - and they're really hard to find :-/
I guess I just have to grin and bear on this one. And will try to tell him ploitely what his comment did to me and that I'd appreciate if he did not do that again next time I see him... Who knows - maybe it works?

I allready spent my 10 Euro contribution for this quarter.
I'm going to keep the receipt, frame it, and hang it over my bed.  ;D

For this amount I got a referral to the local clinic.
And there, unbelieveable, I got a prescreption for 3 different packages of vitamin D3 analoga, one pure, one with cortison (Daivobet) , one for the scalp. Every kind 2 N3 (N2) packages. Never had that before. It was a receipt, my usual derm would suffer a heart attack.

Drugs for over 400 Euro. My additional payment was 37,50 Euro. Until the reform I would have had paid 24 Euro.

Overall the German systems seems to do little bit more for patients than the British - but with double expenses. It's becoming less effective every year.

Are you a German sheep or a British sheep, living in Germany ?

Whatever, you will be sheared by the system.

Aye - don't!

You might want to hand it in to your insurance once you've passed the magic 1 or 2 % ;)

German sheep who's lived in Britain and in Germany  .... so know both systems ... and both have their pros and cons (actually the pros of the NHS are a lot higher than German people in general would expect - but this is my personal perception only ;))

Great. Being told your medical condition is expensive...

:-/

Don't know much about the new german system, but german friends (from years ago now) used to extol the brilliance of it. But that was before your new and 'improved' system.

The NHS in the UK is forever under attack from the media. This is normally 'it is collapsing/people are dying/waiting forever on waiting lists' etc etc. And yes, sometimes this is true. But regardless of the bad stuff we read about, the UK's NHS is one of the best in the world. At the end of the day we get prescriptions and we have to pay a few quid for them (a lot lot less if you buy a yearly scrip card) and we save hundreds and hundreds of pounds. For every bad doc there are a hundred good ones.

We are very lucky (generally speaking).

As for your derm. He was out of order on a professional level. I can imagine it annoyed and upset you. On the other hand you say he is a good derm and perhaps he is suffering 'stress' from the reforms and the cost cutting that he has to work with every day. I know a few docs over here and they find it pretty hard having to tussle with figures and waiting lists.

Hope he is better towards you next visit Sheepz  :-*

When Dovonex first came out, a pharmasist gave me a lecture on how expensive it was. I felt like a criminal, especially since she did it in the shop with other people listening.

Luckily she didn't realise she was running a business but I did...and never went back.

Don't these people realise that to instill guilt and shame in people with p is a waste of the money its costing everybody to treat us in the first place as  we all know being miserable doesn't help our skin. Doh. And Grrr.

Looks like America's mission to destroy socialism throughout the globe is almost complete.

Sorry, don't want to get too controversial!!
