anyway roger whilst i realise the boards are set out into different segments im afraid the same thing gets discussed in all of them..  so dont really see whatthe problem is here but a few whining members with nothing better to do but moan & give no help to this parent..
Describing other members as whining is offensive and far from constructive. Those members are other sufferers and have a right to their opinions as anyone else. remember this forum is for all of us including the ones you describe as whining and not a platform for any one members opinions over another.

While you may see no problem posting basically diet issues on the other boards rather than the alternate board where it is appropriate, we do. We separate the boards and subjects for the obvious reasons among which it would be utterly boring if all the posts and boards where full of the same thing as you claim ( PA and P are a good example of the differences ). So choose to post within the guidelines we set out or we will lose patience with relocating them and just prevent you from posting at all.
Simples  ;)

Hi,

I've been involved with attendance etc at my local school (I am a parent governor) and the children with long term health problems (which your daughter has) their attendance is actually omitted from any'attendance'  figures that are submitted to local authority and then ofsted, this was with the guidance from ofsted. So please do not feel pressured in any way by the school or the local authority as that will just add to the stress of the situation.

Hope that helps

steelem....... have you considered that not everyone wants to go down the diet route you may have had " AMAZING" results but not everyone will!!!!

just because youve had P along time does not make you an expert many people on here are also term P sufferers the IDEA! of the forum is to SHARE! you experinces not force it down thier throats!!!

as for school my best advice would be to educate them on your daughters condition a lot of them dont realise how bad a skin flare can effect someone go in and speak to a senior member of staff and get a action plan put into place for when your daughter is unable to attend school most are willing to help xx
Smile :0) its something you can catch x

The posts are both offensive, abusive and self promoting and have gotten worse as they have increased in their frequency apart from the fact I am of the opinion they are totally unhelpful and possibly extremely upsetting to a mother who came onto her seeking advice, information and some degree of sympathy and comfort from others who suffer with this chronic and horrible disease.

Steelem, I am infuriated by your ignorant, obnoxious and arrogant attitude to others, especially as you have claimed to be someone who works in the caring/medical sector. Can I politely suggest a change of career to where I feel your people skills or total lack thereof may be of some better use such as working in an abattoir or as a gravedigger where those present would no doubt be oblivious to your "whining"

To the lady "faithandnoah09" who originally sought help and advice

I offer my heartfelt sympathy to both this mother and her daughter. While I have never been in this position with schools etc I can only suggest as with others that a letter from a consultant would and should suffice with any concerns that school may have. I personally would never have allowed the school or any other similar body to have access to your daughters medical files for two main reasons -

1. The files are confidential and covered as such under the data protection act as well as other confidentiality clauses and I am certain that  school due to being a non medical establishment cannot satisfy confidentiality obligations or interpret often complex medical files/reports about chronic conditions. Furthermore other information contained within the files and or released may often be of no relevance whatsoever to the school or its interests. Furthermore according to an earlier post by another member with superior knowledge of the system there are also local government and ofsted guidelines regarding children's genuine absence for medical reasons which this school appears to ignore. Despite what they may be saying they do seem to have forgotten that their primary concern should be the welfare and educational development of your daughter. I wouldn't be at all shy or reticent about reminding them of their obligations in this respect.

2. The contents of your daughter's medical files are none of their business whatsoever and they have absolutely no right under these circumstances to demand/seek or be granted access to any medical files. They may have under certain circumstances the right and obligations (under certain attendance and or child welfare guidelines/obligations and where concerns have arisen as well as health and safety legislation if there is a fear of contagious diseases or injury the student or others) of which the latter is not the case in this instance to seek relevant clarification about your daughters reasons for school absence but this should not extend to bullying or overstepping the boundaries to the extent that their behavior as in this case could be construed as over intrusive and damaging to either you or more importantly your daughters well being and educational development.

Please remember that this condition while it may be a physical ailment also impacts hugely on people psychologically and I ask you to please try and understand your daughters anxiety with this condition and possible quality of life along with self esteem issues that will undoubtedly arise.

As for medical treatment there are many treatments for psoriasis and each patient responds differently. Unfortunately it is often a case of trying various treatments until both your daughter and a dermatologist finds one that is effective in controlling your daughters condition. From what you say your daughters condition is at a severe stage and if this is the case she needs to be seen as a matter of urgency. If you cannot get prompt access (in this case almost immediate) to a consultant dermatologist through the normal manner of waiting for an appointment I would suggest the perfectly acceptable and often resorted to option of walking into a casualty department and seeking assistance as an emergency case. At the A&E dept you may not be able to see a skin specialist immediately but more than likely your appointment will be fast tracked and you may be lucky enough to see one the next day. Further to this do not be afraid to telephone your local hospital dermatology department and seek information on your daughters condition while informing them of the situation, this can be very helpful in many ways.

In conclusion: Unfortunately I cannot offer more than sympathy and my best wishes. I hope with all of my heart your daughter can get the condition under control and you as her obviously loving and caring mother get the help and support that you both require. As for treatment I strongly and without any reservation advise you listen to firstly your daughter and secondly a consultant dermatologist only, not quacks, faith healers, chiropractors, psychiatrists or psychologist wannabees, farmers, binmen, toilet cleaners, traffic wardens, nutritionists or blatant self serving con artists. This condition is something that can only be treated by a consultant dermatologist. When attending a consultant please don't be afraid to ask about possible side effects of any medicine prescribed and if you still have a concern use this site as a reference and a source of support.

There is only one other treatment that myself and I am sure others can readily recommend and I know from personal experience that it would bring your daughter enormous albeit non permanent relief is the dead sea medical center in Jordan. It is also accurate and true to say the German and Austrian health services send most of their Psoriasis patients for treatment there and have been doing in excess of 25 years. People from other countries attend privately or as small groups and I am in no doubt your daughter would both enjoy the experience and get tremendous relief from the condition. The mere fact that everyone else will have the same condition and not be covering it without showing any embarrassment can in itself be hugely beneficial. It is also worth noting that there are often young persons undergoing treatment there in the company of their parents so mingling mixing etc will never be an issue.

I know that personal circumstances etc may not possibly allow a trip to the dead sea center but if you wish to seek more information regarding this I will happily answer as best possible any questions you may have regarding this medical center and or treatment but I would steer you in the direction of the forum within this site regarding an upcoming organized trip as a group to the same clinic. I am sure Mattelie would be more than happy to forward you any information you may require.

I apologize for this long post but with honesty I have tears in my eyes responding to this as I know only too well how difficult it can be to come to terms with this condition and how much it impacts on the life of the sufferer and I can only imagine how difficult it is for both your daughter and yourself at this present time. Please use this site to support yourself and your daughter at this time as much or as little as you feel you need to but please remember there are many members here who have children with the condition and they can be a wonderful source of information and support but most of all please remember you are not alone and never a burden.

Best regards

William
