newbie here...
« on: December 30, 2011, 03:35:14 PM »
hi. just thought i would say hello.. looks as if there is a lot of information on here
need a bit of help if possible to direct me in the right direction on here please

i have had what i would call normal psoriasis for as long as i remember, but just a small patch on top of my foot about the size of a clenched fist. 3 weeks ao i began to get a  'rash' thought it was a reaction to something so just kept an eye on it. but it got worse and worse, a visit to my local doctor and i have been told it is puscular psorasis. and its really getting me down, its on hands, wrists, runs up arms to armpits, on palms, soles of feet, top of feet, between fingers and toes, shins, basically i seem to be getting covered in it. i have been given lotions and creams and i see the deratologist in 3 weeks. What i am looking for is advise on what i can do to help myself untill i see dematoligist.. and it looks such an imformative forum i dont know where to start.

thanks
marion

Hi Marion,

This is bit of a difficult one to comment on. Pustular P is not very common. Do you have pus filled spots that are either white, or yellow?

My best advice would be to search this site for relevant posts (or start a new one with that specific topic), and moisturise as often as you can.

Regards,

Daryl

Hi Marion, sorry to hear you have pustular P, I have it too on my palms and also my feet.

My Dermo has given me some Dermovate ointment which seems to help a lot.  It is very messy though.  I tend to put it on my hands at night and then wear cotton gloves and I apply it to my soles and then wear socks over the top.

The one thing I have found that really seems to work on my feet if they split is Haelen Tape which seems to be a bit of a miracle. My sole split yesterday, I put a strip of the tape on, the pain stopped instantly and, this morning, it had healed itself over again.
I haven't needed to use it on my palms yet as they are calm at the moment.  The tape is perfectly clear so you cant really see it either.

I agree with Daryl in the moisurisation, don't let it get dry.  I tend to use Bio Oil rather than a cream moisturiser but as you will probably find out on the forums, not everything works the same for everybody.  Give Bio Oil a try and see, you;ll soon know if it doesnt work.

Ive also switched to Sanex shower wash as there are no perfumes etc in it.

I do feel for you having this, it is horrible, but don't let it get you down.  I am sure your Dermo will be able to prescribe exactly what you need to get it under control.

Let us know how you get on x

Hi Marion, I too was prescribed with pustular psoriasis it started in my hands which i repeatedly went to the GP for and was prescribed various steroid applications and not really advised much and treated as ezcema, when I did finally get a diaganosis was told moisterising was key to 'managing' this condition, and shortly after started in my feet...what i can say is i have never put the steriod creams of my feet, lather them morning and night in emollient cream and wear light cotton socks..and they have never been no where near as bad as my hands, they do crack but usually when i've done too much or worn the wrong shoes and they heal far quicker than my hands, i do think knowing/reading up or getting the right GP will help loads with this condition, i'm still learning too and hoping for an alternative diagnosis so can sympathise..Nikki

thanks....

sorry just learning about this type of psoriasis,so could ask some daft questions till i see dermo..

split feet, truthfully i have never really looked after my feet, they just something to walk on, shoes, socks off as soon as i come in house, hate anything on my feet, its like a phobia., but about the same time as this psoriasis started i got a huge split in my heel, never happened before. so are more split heels something i got  ot look forward to too...

i do lather myself in cream all the time, i slide around house lol... so whats the best way to use the creams, rub it all in, or just lather it on,. i have pumps of the epaderm all over house and keep using it when ever i pass it.

will look for the tape u mentioned, the split in foot has just heeled, has too maybe 4 weeks..

the bio oil, my mam has some, was bought for after her hip operation to help healing, didnt know it could be used on psoriasis..

have had a small patch of psoriasis for 40 years, the new stuff is different, the p on hands is different to the p on feet and different o whats appearing all over body, i find the most uncomfatable is the hands, wrists, belly button and bum , and they all itch at different times of the day..

thanks again
marion

Hi Marion

With regards to the Bio Oil, I dont think it is used for P but it does seem to work for me.  As it's a dry oil it is more readily absorbed into the body than cream.  TBH I tend to put a load of bio oil on my feet then slap a load of Dermovate oitment on as well and then wear cotton socks. On your feet, do they come up as blisters first, then dry out and then crack? or do they suddenly just crack?  Just asking as mine seem to start off as tiny little red prick marks which then get bigger, then blister and then seem to form blood blisters.  Thats when mine start to crack if I dont use anything.  The Haelen Tape is, as far as I know, precription only so try and get a script for that.  It doesnt stop the feet erupting but it does make them more comfortable when they do.
As for saying my hands are clear of pustules at the moment, famous last words eh!, they have erupted again this morning.  I have no idea why.
I feel for you with the itching, Im desperately trying not to scratch at the moment.
Pustular is a really weird one, mine only started 3 mths ago and Id never had any skin probs before that!
Will be really interested to hear what your Dermo says on the subject when you go.
Don't worry about asking 'daft' questions.  I am doing it all the time. You never know, we might stumble upon a miracle cure and if not, at least we will be experts on it LOL
Let us know what happens at the dermo, when are you going again?

hi sarah..
i havent had this type of p  for long, maybe 4 weeks, but have suffered from a patch of a different p for 40 years. no idea why i have sudenly came out with this new one, plus today i noticed my nails, i think i getting it there too, like my mam has..
at the moment i  use betnovate on  my old thick p  and epaderm on all the new p

my palms i would say are gritty, kinda like washing hands with sandy water, wrists are very very red, dry, itchy, scaley but not like palms.. my feet, they seem to start with tiny little red marks, real itchy that grow and blister to then go kinda scaley and flake off. the p between fingers and toes are very small crusty, lumpy, scaley, so hard to descibe, all this has just appeared over a couple of weeks and no idea why... belly button is so so sore. i could go on for ages, but i havent seen dermo yet, just gp who said it was puscular p...

i see dermo 18th jan.. so it maybe (fingers crossed) something else...

Hello Marion,
I have had ppp for over 2 years, tried alsorts of pills potions and cream, nothing helped  :(
I stumbled across Dermol cream, have been using it for 4 months now and although slow it is working wonders
on my skin.
One hand clear and one nearly clear. My feet are 70 percent better. It even helps with the itching.
Obviously what works for me might not work for you, but it's worth a shot.
I would be interested to hear what your derm has to say,
Good Luck
Maria x
