Hi itchy1 , i have the same problem as i'm a manual worker , i,ve been using Epaderm ointment, available over the counter but cheaper on prescription for 500 gms . Its very greasy so apply to hands an then wear gloves, this ointment has been much better than anything else i,ve used but i,m not looking forward to the cold an wet weather   :(

Hi Itchy1,,,I also had/have ps on my hands,i recently bought some neoprene gloves on the net Daily Mirror site, they have the finger tips cut off so you should still be able do your job ok,they tend to keep your hands warm and moist as opposed to dry and cracking all i can say is after 30 plus years my hands are the best they have been in all that time, i have posted this info on the site yesterday if you care to look,,by the way gloves are about £10 and get a size larger eg if you take large get extra large as they tend to be a size smaller,,hope you have as much success as me ,,,CHEERS CONNOLLYBONCE.

Load your hands up with moisturiser and wear these, guarantee you will be able to do your job in them much more comfortably  :)

Hi Itchy,

if your fingers are cracking really badly, then ask your GP or Derm to prescribe Haelan tape. That works really well. However, it does contain a steroid.

Daryl

I feel so pathetic. I can hardly bear any more. My hands are a mess. Fingers, palms, joints and backs of hands. Other areas are bad, but is is my hands which are affecting me most. I feel ugly and disfigured.

I have had psoriasis for over 40 years and this is the worst I've been since the late 1970s. I am in constant pain. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I've heard goats milk lotion is good but to be honest I'd try skin of newt for just a little relief

Hi Kp,

I do know just how you might feel. I have had times when my hands and fingers have been so cracked and bleeding that I wouldn't put on my own shoes, put my hands in my pockets, nor hold a knife and fork. I refer back to my previous post about Haelan tape, but with the weather the way that it is at the moment it is important to get loads of moisturiser into the skin and also wear gloves. Boots do some white cotton ones that are quite good, but if you want the rolls-royce version, then go for Tubifast. However, these are no longer available on the NHS.

Moisturise before bed and wear the gloves all night. This should help.

Finally, get off to see you GP and / or Derm.

Regards,

Daryl

I haven't had cause to see a dermatologist since the 1970s. I thought I had psoriasis beaten - doh. I saw my GP a couple of weeks ago and she gave me a couple of creams to use. I think the psoriasis is feeding of them as the increase is alarming. My whole body is now affected and my hands are so bad I can hardly bend my fingers. I would like to be referred for PUVA. I was one of the first in the country to use it in the 1970s and the results were astounding.

I have a sunbed and my beloved H dug it out and cleaned it up tonight. I had my first session

Daryl, thank you. I bought Boots cotton gloves yesterday. I am also going to try their barefoot Barrier cream as a moisturiser. My usual hand creams are hopeless.
This whole flare up is testing me to the edge of sanity.
