I have used Protopic on my face with success. I had some very small patches in several places and (being a girl) was advised to use Eumovate cream in the morning (cream is easier to apply make-up over), then Protopic in the evening. I noticed improvement with a day or two, and most of it stayed away.

If you haven't already, you should do plenty of reading up on it, as Protopic is a very potent topical and has raised risks associated with it. I think I've read on here that some GPs won't prescribe it without recommendation/previous prescription from a derm.

Good luck! :)

I loved protopic at first it would clear or noticably reduce patches overnight. I must have used it for about 2 years on my face as sparingly as possible as said above its strong stuff to be putting on your face.

After about 2 years of using it, I did notice how much it had thinned my skin and my skin had became very photosensitive. Luckily I had a few weeks of UVB which cleared my P completely for a while but once it came back I decided not to go back to Protopic.

As well as those symptoms it would only take a brief change in temperature and my forehead where I was applying it would feel hot and sweaty and feel like it was burning especially right after applying it.

Since my P came back I have been using Emovate on my face, for about a year now and I dont have any ill side effects yet besides I cannot stop using it, the patch's don't go it just keeps them at bay, however this was the same with Protopic for me as well.

I wont use Protopic again personally but what works for one doesn't for another we all react differently.

thanks for the replies and info

yeah ill read up on it for sure. i think im going to get Emovate also and either use both or see which works better on it own.
i really have to get myself sorted as starting a job soon and it really effects me with confidence and the soreness and itch.

ill be going to the docs in the morning and hopefully he'll prescribe me the protopic.

just a small update:

I didnt get prescribed protopic from my doc he said to try the eumovate cream.
I started using this 2 days ago and seeing some good results :)

He also gave me betnovate scalp application as i havent used anything on my scalp in years except helpful shampoos

hopefully the eumovate clears me and can keep using it but i am aware it does say not for prolonged weeks/months so after a week ill give it a break.
