PUVA progress (pictures)
« on: February 08, 2012, 01:45:13 PM »
On Day 1 of my PUVA treatment I took the first picture... and forgot all about it untill this morning looking through my phone...

I cant believe how bad my P patches were before i started the PUVA.... So red, agrivated etc etc! 20 weeks of PUVA treatment now.. and all my front is nearly clear... all patches are smooth and only that light salmon pink remains where they once lay.. Back is still about 50% to be  cleared.. but at my last treatment I started to notice my back and its started  clearning quickly.. In the PUVA booth now for 9 minutes.

Also love the tan in getting from the puva :) The second picture looks dull.. but that is the colour of my skin now! Also lost 8lbs in the last picture and started hitting the gym! things are good and its time to move up a ladder in life! :)

Remission must last for me! please please!

Congratulations, lxm! Way to go! I also had good results when I used to do PUVA. I would stay relatively clear for a few months (not like with nbuvb where the P almost comes back immediately, so i have to use it continuously)

Thanks everyone.... Being 20 I always struggle so much having my P... (so no doubt others do) I feel that my quality of life has increased tenfold already simply having the plaques smooth and that 'salmon pink' way... even if they are not completely gone.. I would settle on the patches being like that for ever...  Up to 10 minutes 30 seconds now in the Booth.. Came out yesterday feeling like id been laying in the spanish sun...

Do the areas where the plaques were return to normal skin colour ? they are completely healed now... but just pinky in colour, yet i still seem to be recieving treatment and according to staff still have a bit to go yet before ending?

Alright so im back. Ive been using the PUVA lamps for 7 months now, x2 per week. Anyone think this is quite a long treatment period ?

Pretty much 95% clear.. only 3-4 small patches on backs of shoulders to clear! Also lost another 12lbs! :)

The PUVA machine at my hospital clinic has been out of action for a week now... Ive missed 4 treatments (last treatment at 10 minutes in the booth) Today im starting to get really bad flareup/rebound.. After only missing 4 treatments! Last night I noticed two small pimples on my forearm.... a small pimple on my stomach and another two on my chest, This morning they had turned from pimples/regular spots to the begining of psoriasis plaques! albeit half the size of a green pea.. Also scalp has never been this itchy/flared/scabby before.. along with public bone area..

I honestly cannot go back to the way I used to be... I was so depressed, hated life and spent far to much time hiding away, suffering social anxiety and really struggling with confidence. With the progression of the P last night / today again even though its only small has mentally sunk me and ive not felt this miserable for a long time.. Im pretty down in the dumps and litterally cannot think happy thoughts.. and feel like a cry.. Oh dear.

Has anyone used sunbeds weekly after having PUVA treatment stopped to continue the clearing of P ? Thinking of this as an option for once my treatment stops, Hopefuly Ill be back this friday to continue.

Are they avalible to buy ?

Im not too sure about getting a 'puva' lamp, Im not to keen on taking the tablets as they make me feel a bit funny, But I suppose I could look at a uvb lamp ?
