Questions about salt baths
« on: September 08, 2003, 07:20:10 AM »
I've been thinking about recreating the dead sea ... in my bath tub or failing this I would settle for  merely normal sea water.   Question is, does anyone know how much salt one must add to a gallon (liter) of water to create this kind of bath?  Also would the salt be hard on the plumbing? Is this legal? Im pretty sure I could buy dead sea salts and  reports are generally positive for those who do the real thing.  My experience is that salt water has a therapeutic effect but for me its about 1000 miles to the nearest ocean.  Once I get this all together how long or often would I soak?   Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Not sure about this. I do know that at the Dead Sea it is not just the salt, it is a combination of many other minerals along with the climatic conditions created by being the lowest point on earth.

If you do try it, be careful because it could sting like mad, the derms at the Dead Sea generally dont let you in the sea for the first week, and keep a BIG bottle of moistureiser handy and apply immediatley this will dry your skin out real bad.

As for how much salt............ ???  ???  ???

Good luck, Paul
