OK. So it seems a lot of the posts here are about PA.

Can we have some for psoriasis only?

Okey doke, your wish is my command, Chappers

"A request to put a stuck thread for Good Stories with Drugs, especially DMARDS/Biologics

But for PSORIASIS"
  rather than just PA!

Please dont be tempted to put your bad stories on here!

The post is an attempt to be postive about the many successes the drugs achieve.

Sometimes we only see the bad stuff and its good to get a balance?

Hi all
Mine is a success story.
Had pretty awful Psoriasis. You would not want to go there.Tried all the usual (and the unusual)
The usual
- day patient for treatment with cream etc and short contact light.
PUVA - managed to get as far as I could at relatively young age
Methotrexate- am still on this
The unusual
Herbalists, alternative medicine, all kinds of theories in books, diets-you name it I tried it.
Was (reckon the dermatologist had decided this was last throw of dice) approved for infusion of infliximab.
Worked like a dream. Not all gone mind you, but compared to where I was, a new life.
In all this did not get a trip to Dead Sea (would like to have gone)- you cannot be greedy.
Regards
JimK

Very very short form synopsis:-

Psoriasis since age 5. Progressively got worse until I was totally (not just spotty) covered in my teens.  Had various treatments that did very little in terms of clearing:- all types of topicals - (steriod and coaltar and dithrolan, dithronal etc), Tigason, UVB, PUVA, RPUVA, cylcosporin, fumaderm, about 18 years of methotrexate and no doubt some treatments I can't remember.  Spent many weeks in hospital as an in patient.  Spent more than I could afford on quack treatments and cures.  The longest ever clear skin I had was about two months after 7 weeks in hospital.  I remember one idiot derm thought I was insane because I refused to go into hospital again - he actually then refused to treat me.

For me Enbrel worked from the very first injection - 2 -3 days after the first injection I could see my psoriasis dissolving away.  It was an amazing and very emotional thing to see.  My life changed after 35 years.  I could do all the normal things that the majority of people take for granted.  I don't think it ever cleared completely but it got to the point where it really didn't matter.

Three years later and the Enbrel still has an affect.  I am not clear but am very grateful.

Got psoriasis about a year ago on the back of my head. Tried all kinds of stuff but what really works is glycerin and rosewater. I only wash my hair on Saturday, the other days I just rinse in the shower with water and then after towel drying spray on the glycerin and rosewater. I put it in a spray bottle to make it easier. This stuff sells in the drugstore for $3.99 a bottle. I also quit coffee and and drink green tea instead but that's about the only big dietary change I've made. Another great and cheap product from the drugstore is distilled witchhazel. I put that in a spray bottle also and squirt it on any other skin problems. Works great.

New here.  Have had psoriasis for about 10 years.  Started with a couple of spots and a flaky scalp.  Now I have spots all over.  Been in phototherapy since the start.  Different creams, ointments and various toxins for my scalp.  Dr. feels it is time to try Humira.  I have put this off.  Not crazy about possible side effects or injections, but this isn't getting better.

Have had psoriasis for 33 years and been in and out of hospital more times than I care to remember - been through the book and back in terms of treatment. Th whole range of topicals, homeopathy, chinese herbs, Dead sea, steroids, UVB, PUVA, cycloporin, mtx. After my son was born 3 years ago, I went on Enbrel which was fab (for a while), because of the stopping and starting with funding, the P was more difficult to get back under control each time so was switched to Humira. Fab, fab, fab  :) I have a PASI of 1 for the first time in about 25 years. It's made a huge difference to my skin, life, mood etc.. A little more susceptible to bugs going around but hey small price to pay imo!!  :) 1 jab every fortnight and the rest of the time I don't even think about it - now that's unheard of.. before P had an impact on me every hour of every day. I can't say enough good things about biologics. Sure there are side effects but you have to weigh up how much a dramatic improvement in your skin would improve your life and make the decision as to whether it's worth you risking the side effects. For me, no contest...

After many, many years with P and never being fully clear, Mtx cleared my P fully within 6 weeks. I still get little flare ups every now and  again, but as I know that will go within a few weeks it really doesn't bother me. Yes there are side effects but will happily take them for the difference clear skin has made to my confidence :)
