singles suffering psoriasis
« on: February 05, 2005, 02:21:13 PM »
Can anyone tell me if they find it as hard as i do to find a partner due to this skin condition?I myself like many other sufferers find myself being very self concious and find the condition very embarrising and as a result i cant find a girlfriend that i dont feel bad around. My relationships when they do come along are very short and as i have never really met anyone with this skin condition in the same boat i wondered who else is finding there quest for a relationship equaly difficult

Hello 010677 welcome to the forum, i'm not finding it difficult to meet someone because of psoriasis, i'm just finding it hard to meet someone because I never go out! Once a week I go to play pool and on the rare occasion there is a girl in the pub then i'm too shy to even approach her :-[ Atleast your getting out there and meeting girls, have they ever said anything really negative about your skin? There is quite a few threads on here about dating it seems to be quite a hot topic.

Hard! what are you talking about!!! girls love nothing more than inflamed flakey skin on a guy!
no seriously, I know exactly what you mean. It's difficult cos P really affects your confidence. I'm clearing a bit at the moment, but up until a few weeks ago the chances of me getting intimate with another were pretty much zero- but this is not so much due to other peoples reactions, rather than the way that P affects the way you see yourself. There is a thread named 'dating' a bit further down- check it!!

But see my point is P or not everyone has days when they feel like c**p and would not want to be initimate with their partners anyway, just obviously if you have a partner and your P is active and you dont feel attractive that is the time when the cuddles and watching DVD's and communicating and spending quality time comes in handy and when you do feel better, you can make up for lost time, P or not even I have days when I dont feel too great, normally when I have PMT and want to kill someone (keep sharp objects away please)
And I know People without P who have no partners at all because of other reasons, lack of confidence, ginger hair (only joking!!!Honest!) Overweight and so on, and they use this as an excuse, lots of people even if they like you are too shy to ask you out so it is for all of us to get out there and help things along, after all what is the worst that can happen? They run fleeing for the hills? i doubt that, they say 'No; and it doesnt mean no because of P, it could mean NO because they just dont fancy ya!
Work on loving yourself P and warts and all and trust me, everyone is much easier! ;D
