Skin Cancer and Psoriasis
« on: January 23, 2004, 05:33:48 PM »
Has anyone heard of a link between Psoriasis and skin cancer.

I heard that people who suffer from Psoriasis have a very low chance of ever developing skin cancer, but that this link has not really been studied.  Has anyone heard this or heard other information related to this

I'm  particularily interested in this because as a new suferer, I've been told for the first time in my life that sun is good for my skin.

What about people with fair or pale skin who burn easily(like me).
It is unusual for a fair skinned person to develop Psoriasis or do these people just have to avoid the sun regardless of the benefits to their Psoriasis.

Hi As a rule the sun and air is good for our P, But it adversely affects some. This seems to be common about most treatments, they may work for some but not for others.
Psoriasis  seems to affect all skin types and colours.

I would echo Tim's sentiments...

Also , uv treatments do heighten the risks of skin cancer....You will have signed a waiver before you started treatment to affirm you understand the risks...

The way I was before treatment , I would have signed anything if I thought I could get relief. !!!
