Some steps to Clearance..
« on: December 19, 2011, 05:47:14 PM »
Merry Christmas everyone! I write this topic now, wearing a tshirt - something 6 months ago I would have had covered with a shirt. I got psoriasis around this time last year and have been on going with the itching, redness, self confidence issues that everyone gets when they have psoriasis. Having tried everything, I now know what works best, and I'd like to share what I think does and hopefully help people out there. I understand some of it might work / could be pricey but it's always worth a try.

i honestly used to be about 80% covered. it was horrible.

So in Summer, i'd be on primrose hill in the baking sun, wearing a shirt and jeans and people would be looking at me thinking.. what the hell. Now in winter does it finally decide to all clear up.. (typical).

Right so here are some of my tippers:

1) COD LIVER OIL. The seven seas brand I have been taking everyday for about 2 months and i really think it's made a difference in the long term. Other vitamins I take daily are vitamin b complex and vitamin d which I also think play a massive part in clearing it up. But seriously, cod liver oil, vitamin b, vitamin d after your breakfast and BOOM dont have to think about anything else and they're generally great for you anyway. Obviously in summer i wouldnt be taking vitamin d as i'd be getting it anyway and you don't want too much of the tablet type anyway.

2) Chamomile / green tea - everyday, i keep the bag in and just drink it. Relaxes you too if you're stressed, but it's all round amazing for you and had lots of antioxidants in it.

3) OK THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ONE. ACTUALLY IT'S NOT BUT IT'S SECOND FAVOURITE. Run a bath, a massive one, and in it you squeeze aveeno oil bath and shower gel. Now you're supposed to put two table spoons in but with everything i like to go a bit over board and i literally squeeze about a quarter of the bottle in. The bath goes all white and smells quite nice, and if you soak in it for about half an hour three times a week you MAY see a MASSIVE improvement. It has oats or something in it, buy it anyway, and see what you think. I think that's what cleared up my P really along with all the other things i'm saying.

4) Now every morning after i've had a shower, I e45 the poop out of myself, let it all absorb and put my work clothes on. The same before bed (even if youve had a shower or not). i know some people dont like e45 but its the quickest (i think) for absorbing and i have some weird addiction about coating myself in it. EVERY MORNING, EVERY NIGHT.

5) FUNDAMENTAL POINT - DO NOT STRESS. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT STRESSING. I work in events and i find when i stress i can literally feel the p coming back. Just relax, get enough sleep, and just try not to. Easy saying that i know but i think stress plays a huge factor in my P anyway.

6) I'm sure I've forgotten something.

7) for SCALP psoriasis i cannot recommend enough Bettamousse. It's on perscription and it's like this foam and if you pull your hair apart, so you can see the scalp (havent explained that very well) and squeeze it on and gently push it on you will see a huge difference. ive never had it since, you have to keep applying it every other day, or when your scalp generally feels itchy. Also works for ears aswell if you put a tiny bit on (you're not supposed to do this but i'd rather have clear ears than scaly ears). IT'S AMAZING. for girl's i think it's a bit trickier as they've got longer hair, but if you're a boy with short hair like me, bettamousse is the way forward. and then you don't have to worry about going to the hairdresser and explaining why snow is falling out onto the black cape they make you wear. AWKWARD.

now this is obviously a massive no no and negative reason, and i'm not recommending it in anyway, but a sunbed once every two weeks really does help me. Now it's clear i won't need to go on at much, but for stopping the scales coming back then starting the clearance routine i think it helps. Also if you've got facial psoriasis just go on for 8 minutes and it always clears up. That's what I used to do anyway. NOT SAYING GO ON SUNBEDS. JUST SAYING HOW I GOT ALL CLEAR.

9) i don't really find smoking makes a difference to my P. i can stop for two days and dont see any improvement. also wine used to make me flare but i probably drink so much of it that my bodys gotten used to it.

that's all i can think of for now.. i don't used any steroid creams on my body it just seems to have gone down, all the cracks and everything. just always make sure your body is moisturised.

if anyone has any questions or anything do let me know.. i am nice!

Thanks for your post Charlie. I've seen the aveeno products before but not tried them yet. Just wondered if you've tried the body wash? I don't have a bath so was thinking I might try this instead - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

hi
its really good that youve had good results but i dont think its right of you to give others false hope.
i think you should change the 'you will see MASSIVE improvement' to you may see MASSIVE improvement.
its a small change but for me its very important.
you cannot say it will work for everyone

Hi Frost, yes you are right - I have changed it. It isn't false hope if it works...

Hi Elgrande.. Yes I'd definitely give it a go. I use the Aveeno moisturiser on my face and that's amazing too, so I'm sure their body wash is brilliant. Maybe keep it on your body for a good few minutes while you wash your hair face etc..
