hi everyone, im a newbie. i only registered on the site after reading the countless posts, about soraderm containing steroids etc.  :-\

i started using this cream for my son for his eczema when he was 3, he is now 4 years old, and i have to say apart from myself always having suspicions of it containing steroids, it made a HUGE difference to my sons skin, there was nothing at all that the doctor was giving to apply to his skin that actually made ANY difference. my son didnt sleep for months, every morning his bed sheets were full of blood from the constant itching!!!

i was reluctant to use the cream at first, but my mum got hold of it for me...and i can say im glad she did.
the effects were slow but eventually it cleared up...from using everyday we have gone to using it only once a week or even once every two weeks!!!

i agree with other posts that the pharmaceutical companies are all about making money....forget our well being!! All medicines given by doctors are only to provide temporary relief...they are not a cure. put it this way the more times you go to the doctor, the more medicines they prescribe...the richer they get!!! so i am not surprised about the 'warnings' coming out from health boards etc.

i have re-ordered this cream now, and have noticed that the packaging is different and it also mentions ingredients...i have had a word with the supplier and he assures me that it is the same...has anyone else had it with new labels/packaging?

There was actually an article in a newspaper about this cream it does contain strong steroids and some people had bad reactions to it. My advice be very careful with it!

Hi, I am another parent whose child suffers with eczema. Much like other mothers I had tried all creams available but found nothing helped. I was given some Soraderm from a friend who had used it on her child, and found it to be a miracle ointment. The smell is quite distinct, and made me wonder what was in it as the older tubs of soraderm did not come with a list of ingredients, which they now do. I have always bought this cream directly from the herbalist who makes it in Pakistan, and I have always been assured that it doesn't contain steroids. It does however smell much like coal tar, and of course this is now disclosed on the list of ingredients. Through research this is not a harmful ingredient, and it is has been used for a long time to treat patients with Psoriasis and also other scalp conditions.
I have been using this ointment for years, and has massively improved my daughters quality of life. Could somebody direct me to where I can get the proof that this ointment definitely contains steroids.
Thanks.

Hi there, its been a while since I logged on to the site so I'm sorry I didn't reply to your message sooner.
I have actually been in touch with the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency) who wrote an article regarding Soraderm, stating that the ointment was believed to have steroid in it. I contacted them and was advised that a batch of Soraderm was tested and that it has a medium potency of steroid in it. I have totally stopped using this ointment on my daughter.
If you still wish to purchase this product the number i have for the herbalist is: 0092673353540 (shop) and: 00920673352082 (home) His name is Nazir. Hope this is of help, and I hope you find a treatment that suits you.

It's true this cream is like a 'miracle' cream I've been using it for a few years and it always clears up any rash I get (although my eczema isn't that severe). If I wear it in the night by the next morning my skin looks almost flawless! However I have realised that if I stop using the cream within a few days my rash will start to appear and continue to get worse until I use a medicine  :-\ I do get worried because I'm soo dependant on it now...
