Stress
« on: September 25, 2002, 10:10:39 PM »
I find it interesting reading about how stress affects peoples P..

I have never found that.. stress makes no odds for me.

I tend to find that rather than stress its more to do with my mental state or attitude.. If I'm happy or content with my situation then it gets better, if I'm not happy then it gets worse..

Not stress really. I've had my fair share of stressfull things and you just deal with it.. right now I've moved back to my home town after being away for 7 years.. I'm really happy about that and it shows in my P. Its the best its been for a long time..

One other thing that makes it worse is if I get ill, with a cold or flu or summat.. maybe something to do with the white blood cells ?? ?? ?? who knows..

Hi Karen,

I think you've hit the nail on the head. P sufferers are just clumped together in one big group and given one set of treatments. I think there are more different types of P than they currently classify. hence why something that helps one person makes another person worse.

anyone got any money for research.....

There is good stress and bad stress.

good stress - keeps me going at work or play when I need a bit of adrenalin.

bad stress - is a nagging worry or worries that I can't get out of my head that usually end up with me being p***ed off with my skin.

Now if only I could get rid of the 2nd one........

I tend to agree with that - but often I find it hard to recognize the bad stress :-/  I'm sometimes intent on avoiding stress, and think I'm doing OK, but my skin tells me otherwise :( ...

Even good stress can bring on a bit of extra P, as for me, it usually goes together with little sleep and not too healthy food... :-/ :-/

I agree very much that it's nagging, ongoing stress that triggers my worst flare-ups, mainly on the face (right now, I look like I've been hit by a truck :'( - ahhh a week or two on the Bahamas would be bliss..... ;D )

Keep happy
;)

I am not sure whether I would really call myself a 'stressed' person actually! I am sure that illness/tiredness etc cause more problems with my P than anything else...

I know that I too have suffered some really stressful periods in my life, but I can't say whether my P was better or worse. I just have P and I have done my best to learn to live with it really. That causes far less stress I think  :)

I'm in the same boat as you SJ,

Illness and tiredness seem to have more of an effect on my P than Stress.

I'm pretty used to my P now too, infact I can't remember not having it. Suppose thats one benefit of getting it so young and never being clear..

Perhaps happiness is good for p and sadness isn't - maybe its as simple as that  - my god!

lets find the best ways to be as happy as possible all the time - is this feasible without some form of medication??

 ;D

The best way to be as happy as possible for the longest amount of time possible has a lot to do with a bottle of champagne as far as I am concerned...in mathematical terms this equates as:

1 BC + 1 SJ = HAPPINESS

;) ;D ;)

PS Add in the drummer of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to the above equation and you have BLISS!!!
