Weight and P
« on: December 23, 2003, 08:53:05 AM »
This may well have been discussed before, but is there an obvious connection between being overweight and having P?  I am overweight - not significantly, but I could do with losing a stone or so - and I wondering if the promise of reduced P might be a spur to getting rid of this!  Obviously, not now as I'm eating for Britain, but come the end of the festivities.

Does anyone know of any connection?

Well as I did Pagano I lost a stone and a half.
Don't know whether that was connected with the omprovement. I wasn't really over weight before but felt better all round for loosing the weight.

Hiya

Dunno is the simple answer from me!

My weight fluctuates 2 to 4kg depending on what I'm eating and how much I am training.

The only thing that really seems to affect me is not enough sleep!

I shall be doing some new stuff with my diet in the NY tho.  I plan to try a low GI thing and try to cut out dairy too.

Good luck and enjoy the festivities!

;-)

No sorry don't think p does effect weight.

Had p since aged 5, and was positively bean pole child.

Added a few pounds after each child, but no still not overweight.

I stand at 180cm (5'11") & weigh in at 75kg (11st 8lb) - My BMI is regarded as ideal - I have very little body fat -I have been that way since I was about 20 - The same age I developed P.

All that considered - Excess weight had no bearing on me developing P.

I do not think weight has anything to do with P.  Alysia is a skinny rake of a thing and she still suffers. ::)
Every day my children do something to make me proud.

I think Alison is right the worry aspect of wieght over or under is more likely to wind up your P.
There was a survey/research not that long ago that was trying to work out why some people put on wieght and some people didn't despite having similar diets, activities etc.
One of the things they found was that people who had some kind on nervous habit, like a  twitching knee for instance, could eat large quantities and not put on weight as the regular movement burnt off the excess energy, and also found the people who didn't often put on weight.
It kinda makes sense, I am 5'9" and 10 and half stone and am unable to sit still for long.
So now when I see my son figiting (sp) I'll only stop him if it's at the table.

I don't think there is a link either - my family are all skinny as rakes, daft as brushes, and most have some P.

What brings mine on most, apart from not getting enough sleep, drinking too much and eating too much chocolate (all my life), is long term worry.

I have a stressful job, but that kind of adrenalin-related short term stress doesn't seem to light P's candle at all.   Building concern about some future event, however, tends to make the P build up at the same rate.
