What to Wear
« on: January 20, 2004, 08:41:12 PM »

Does anyone else have any tales to tell about what they wear when the Arms and Legs are covered with P. I always feel so frumpy and envy people who can wear sleeveless tops and skirts and look so COOL.  Or maybe it doesn't bother you too much?

Being the person I am. I will wear what I like and stuff anyone who complains.
T shirts and shorts are order of the day, come the better weather ;D

PS  At the end of the day it's better to relax about how it looks, the sun and air are good for the majority of us and remain calm when asked the inevitable idiotic questions. ;D

Hey Missfit

I wear skirts a lot but always wear knee length boots with them.  Haven't managed the sleeveless top look yet this year but am working on it.

Haven't got many long sleeve tops to wear out on a dressy night out - woudl love some recommendations! :)

I wear what I want to now, it bothered me at first when my P got really bad, I really felt like I should cover up.  Since then I have learned to live with it and I don't care anymore, but saying that I have never had anyone say anything to me, Im sure that I get the odd look but thats normal everyone does it.  I wear what I like and if I'm on holiday I wear a bikini too, the only comment that I had was from a guy who worked at the hotel I staying at while on holiday to tell me that he knew people who had P and that they had found that the treatments at the hotel spa had helped them.  I must admit I did think that he was going to say something nasty at first but t goes to show that people understand.

Hi Missfit,

I always used to wear long sleeves and trousers. It can be demoralising to not feel able to wear what you want  :-/ When I was younger and I used to go shopping with my friends I felt so left out that I cried at home afterwards  ::) It was hard to see them buying nice, sexy, clothes when for me, anything with short sleeves was out of the question!

I am a lot more confident now though, and just wear what makes me feel comfortable. If it means covering up some of the time, so be it :)

I don't have the confidence to go out and reveal all! After much hunting I have managed to find some decent clothes to wear our in highstreet stores. Also as mentioned above if I want to wear a skirt I'll just wear my knee high boots. Always find it helpful to wear some funky shoes to liven up an outfit!!!

I think you can still look sexy even tho you are covered up. I've found some sexy tops to go out in that cover nearly all of me apart from some chest area which is my only clear bit!  :-/

I like to buy fitted or dare I say 'tight' clothes cos even tho my skin is bad I can still show off my figure. And its all in the attitude aswell. Jus cos there are girls walking around with hardly anything on, doesn't mean they are sexier than you. Find something you feel good in and are confident in and you will look sexy to anyone. :-)

When I was at my worst I had no problem with people seeing my arms which had plaques on both elbows and hands and guttate all the way down.
I did however have a problem with people seeing my legs. I always wore trousers or thick opaque tights. Don't know why that was the case - my arms were quite bad.

For the summer I found some excellent skin colour tights specially designed for people who have scars. They disguised the p completely and I could go out in the summer in skirts! Only downside was I had to wear proper shoes to cover the toes- but that was a small price to pay!!
