'CURES' POISON
« on: June 24, 2006, 08:05:08 PM »
dont know if any one else saw this in the sun or if its been posted already

"Chinese medicines and herbal remedies may contain poisons a study warned yesterday.
Arsenic, mercury and poisonous plants were discovered in some alternative remedies that could be used by the UK's 3,000 practioners.
The Trading Standards Institute, which did the research, advises patients to buy products labelled in English and to tell their GP what they are taking."

i would never touch chinese medicine again after what it did to me. it took my bbody months to recover.

arjuevdic herbs are all based on the philosophy "if u cant eat it then u it shuldnt be given it"

also british herbalists only use safe herbs

I know nettles aren’t recognised as a super powerful herb like cats claw or anything but I like the fact that they come in the guise of a weed but are more than they seem ;)

They are a good green super food, better than spinach for vitamins – so you can’t say they are totally naff.  And because they're so nutrient-dense, they make a good overall tonic for strengthening the body & nourishing liver/blood.

And incase you were wondering ...  ;D They are fantastically high in vitamins A and C, B1, B2, and rich in nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, iron, iodine, silica, sulfur, potassium, chlorophyll, histamine, serotonin, glucoquinones, bioflavonoids, tannins and amino acids. Unusually high in protein (40%) for a plant.

Promise not to say another word  :-X ;)

Thanks for that Jadey,

Very interesting :)

Crazy I know, but recently I have been stinging myself to see if it helps my dodgy neck. Think it might be helping slightly???

... are you really doing that Mickey?  :o

In the 'olden days' soldiers used to hit their legs with nettles to keep arthritis at bay.

Healers in several traditions used the branches of stinging nettle to strike the arms or legs of paralyzed patients in order to activate their muscles.
This whipping technique is also used in some healing traditions to stimulate the organs and relieve the pain of sore muscles.

As nettles contain histamine and formic acid, they slightly irritate the skin & when they come into contact with an area of the body that is already in pain, the chemicals can actually decrease the original pain, if that make sense  ;)

... so, keep up the good work  ;D
