Hi there
It is indeed important to learn the Pranayama (breathing techniques) through a decent teacher. In fact by mentioning the word "Guru", I did not mean the one wearing orange robes and smoking hashish! I meant a knowledgable and an experienced teacher who is capable of imparting knowledge!!
As far as Chakra Meditation is concerned I again did not mean to get deep into Kundalini Meditation. What I meant is to make use of Chakra (or energy "gates") to "empty or divert one's mind from the ususal train of thoughts".
One of the good ways to know about these techniques is to go to Utube and type "Pranayama". Two of 10 important Pranayama techiniques I had mentioned are "Bhastrika" and "Anuloma Viloma". I you live in London then there are excellent classes at Asian Centre, Wood Green, London N22 6TB on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
If you are really interested and wish to transform you life and lifestyle through Yoga and Naturopathy, perhaps the best place to stay at least for a month in a place called Jindal Nature Cure Institute in Bangalore, India - its website is You are not allowed to view links.
