A place in the sun...
« on: December 13, 2009, 10:41:44 AM »
I mentioned on another thread elsewhere that a friend of mine had suggested that I take a holiday to a more sunny climate (etc Spain). her husband suffers from Psoriasis and that is what he does, however he finds that it returns within a frew months of it clearing. I mentioned something simular to my GP earlier (I mentioned sunbeds) which is meant to be effective but also carry's possible long term damage like skin cancer and me being with ginger hair  >:( was adviced to stay well clear of this method.

I was wondering, for those who have suffered with P for a long time and have in the past seen it cleared before returning; how long was the gap before it vanished and then re-occured?

I have mentioned also that I am on the Bergamot Oil treatment and whilst it isn't as successful as I would like ity to be (+ it makes me smell a bit pretty with the lavender) I shall give it until the new year to see how it further progresses and if not I shall be tempted to try eating avecardo's every day for a month!

Hi Paul,  whilst the bergamont is porobably being very nice to your skin,  I really don't think you will achieve 'clearance' by using it.  Also I think it would take a little longer than the new year to give it a good chance.

The holiday in the sun though, is a great idea.   The sun is pure magic medicine on my skin.  The remission it gives does and has varied quite a lot though,  from only a month or so to six months plus before it starts slowly creeping back.

Where i live in France we get a lot of sun, and it can work wonders for your p.

Although sunny now it's to cold, I would suggest a quick tan on holiday would only help a bit.

To get the full benefit i think you would need to live in a sunny climate all year like i do, then you can always top up on a warm day.

We start getting days when you can go out in the sun around February, but you must not rush it.

I learnt the hard way " OUCH "

Most of my holidays abroad have resulted in my P clearing and replacing the patches with white scars as i tanned. Didnt take to long to reappear when i came home though (within weeks). Would love to live abroad somewhere warmer. Cuba, southern France, Algarve.

Maybe i should open a guest house for p sufferers.

We have plenty of private space for nude sunbathing.

My parents stay abroad and when i go to visit them the patches on my body disappear and leave white marks where the rest of me is tanned.  the scalp psoriasis isn't quite so good but round my ears and hairline clears up.  it takes quite a while for mine to come back.  i am hoping to get abroad in may and hope to see an improvement x

Thats all well and good, I'd love to go abroad - not just for the holiday but a chance to try and clear my P - even if it is for a short time!

Hi Paul,

I go to the Dead Sea for climatotherapy treatment and clear 100% every time. Remission can last anywhere from 3 months up to a year, in the 20+ years that I have been going I probably average out at 6 months. Each and every person that goes has different remission times.

As for your essential oil treatment, I agree with Trish that it is unlikely to clear you and you will need to give it months, not weeks to give it a chance.

I was using my Dead Sea salt/essential oils regime for months before a noticeable improvement occured. My P is nowhere near cleared but I have less at this time of year than I ever have and what I do have is made much more comfortable to live with with using the oils/salt regular.

Cheers :)
Always look on the bright side

I may have to consider using that treatment instead, not my posting on TUMERIC - that could be interesting.

Hi Paul

also had good results with the sun when in France but took it slow did not stay out to long
and just built up slowly my sister in law lives south of France and it gets very hot
so can escape the rat race at the beaches

even the sun this year at home small amounts of sun but try not to burn or could have the opposite effect on your P

would love to try the dead sea some time
