A VERY CLEAR SCALP!

Hi Ive used coconut oil for about 8 months now and must admit, is very good at getting scales off.  Although, they always came back within 2-3 days.  I think it depends on how bad scalp is covered.  Mine was 100% covered so clogged up really quickly but people with only little patches, find it helps better.  Been on mtx for about 10 weeks now and scalp is feeling so much better.  Only about 25% covered now, whey hey!!!

I too have used coconut oil for a while now on my scalp p and i agree its the best thing ive found!! Im allergic to coal tar so as you can all imagine its hard for me to find a treatment that doesnt contain coal tar!! I was advised to use coconut oil by my derm nurse and im glad i did.  My scalp is left feeling "normal" and i dont have the burning sensation i got with other treatments.  It leaves my hair looking lovley and shiny aswell so 2 good things out of it!!
I buy my coconut oil from superdrug and costs about a pound for a tub, its brilliant stuff!!

Hi there, I have posted this on different areas but has anyone else tried the cocounut oil lately, I used it on my daughter last night and unfortunately had a bad burning reaction to it, and left it sore today.

Could it have been so bad because she is so sore to the touch at the moment anyway??  Please let me know how other people have found it as I think she will not let me try anything new for a while through fright of it happening again.

Sazza, I'm using it as well, and find it soothing rather than anything else. I use a squeezy bottle with a nozzle, left on the radiator for half an hour, to apply it to partings, massage in and leave it for just half an hour just before using a paraben free shampoo called Desert Essence to take it out.

Sounds very distressing for both of you. Would your daughter let you dab a little on the inside of her arm to see if she reacts there? Perhaps she was just too sore yesterday for anything at all. If she's prone to reactions it might be a good idea to do a patch test of any new product.
