Accupuncture
« on: March 15, 2004, 09:27:20 AM »
I hesitated befors posting this in here as the NHS will give it for painkilling sometimes. But in the context of P it prob belongs in here.
I have had accupunture treatment in the past (over 10yrs ago) to try and treat P. I can't say it did a lot for my skin, but really helped me mentaly at a time of stress ( ie a divorce), It did realy help me relax more and I felt better. Mind you I was also learning yoga at the time too.

There is an article on the subjet in the independent today about it

I love acupuncture!! I had it when i injured my back last year and it helped LOADS with the pain...

I'd really love to have it again even if it's just for the mental side of things.  As Tim said, it's so realxing and really does help to de-stress and clear out all the nasties in your head!! :)

Mind you - isn't cheap either (but then what is!) always worth a shot I say (get it.. shot... needles... oh dear :P)

I tried it some years ago and didn't find it relaxing at all!!! Mind you it might have had something to do with the freaky guy that was doing it. He scared me to death!

I had accupunture about 8 years ago for a back injury (fell off a horse).  I had the needles down my spine and had never had P there before,  after a few weeks I developed P where the neddles had been in my skin, this was the start of my P on my back.   :(  All in all not a good experience for me.

I had it for a trapped nerve, nothing else worked including increasingly strong painkillers and physio, so they tried acupuncture, my GP did it forst and then I had it with physio and within two treatments I noticed a difference.  I'd definately have it done again, I never felt the needles, though I was surprised at how big they were, and it was really relaxing just laid there, I'd have it done for anything if they'd let me!
