Advice on diets
« on: March 31, 2011, 09:08:07 PM »
Hi all I am new here and after reading what seems like a thousand different topics on various diets I have decided just to see what everyone thinks. I have suffered from psoriasis for seventeen years, although it is perhaps only the last seven years that it has become so severe.

I have just finished a course of UVB Treatment which has not cleared all the psoriasis from my legs. It has however cleared it entirely from my upper half so was just hoping to stave it off with a nice easy to follow diet.

Any advice or tips on different diets or even just what to avoid and what to eat would be really helpful.

Anyways thanks in advance people.

You should read Dr. Pagano's book.

It will give you some ideas on what to avoid.

Irritants for people with psoriasis include dairy, peanuts/peanut butter, gluten, tomatoes, alcohol, smoking, eggplant, and peppers.  You have to experiment and see what triggers your psoriasis.  Keep a food diary.  If you flare or get new spots, you can look at what you ate over the past few days and try to narrow it down.

If you look at the top of the alternatives forum page, you will see a line called "member regimes."   Some of us who have been successful with diet have written out what worked for us.   You might find some helpful info there.
