allergy testing

Has anyone here had this done?

did you manage to get it from your GP or did you have to pay to go somewhere?

did it bring up anything?

Has it helped your P in any way by staying clear of things that may cause allergies?

thanks

Hi Hanna...I had it done and the best thing I ever did!!! the only thing is I had it done in the USA.

It is not really an allergy test but leans more  towards an "Intolerance test" basically what it does is tell a person what foods they are intolerant of....similar to allergy but different in a couple ways, one is they, the foods, can change more often and they also won't linger on and on like an allergy does. My doctor suggested it, fortunately and she drew the blood in her office then sent it to this company...

It is not a scratch test! but simply a withdrawal of blood for the testing.
You might want to read through and see if the site gives a better understanding.
I had it done twice.... both times had 10 foods intolerant to! but about half were different. one that I had was dairy both times!

hi hanna, it might be beneficial depending on the number of allergies you might have i.e. to say that you would still need to try each food item on the basis of a strict elimination diet to fully get a grasp of how your body reacts to the suspect foods... this is due to the fact that there a lot of 'false positives' in such a testing.... on the other hand if you suspect that allergies do play a role in your p, then it would be better to start off with a simple IgE testing, to see whether that is an issue in the first place.... my thread here might interest you....  You are not allowed to view links. you can simply get tested for ige antibodies... You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login there is no need for an 'allergen-specific IgE antibody test', though you can opt for it if you think it will be of additional help later on i.e. only if your initial tests return with positive/elevated ige results...  :)
