« on: February 17, 2004, 10:56:31 PM »
I have decided to try using the gel inside of aloe vera plants to treat my psoriasis, I hope that this will help me cuz my nephews birthday is coming up in June and every year he has a pool party and I always have to sit and watch everyone go swimming cuz for one thing I could never been in a in a bathing suit with these psoriasis and second I am afraid that the chlorine from the pool would break me out big time. Well guys wish me luck :)

Btw:Has anyone here tried the aloe vera plant and had results ??

No I haven't Amber, but I would be very interested to hear how you get on.

With regard to swimming, I have recently become a father of twin boys (now 5 months old) and I really want to be able to take them swimming, as soon as they are old enough, but with my P as it is, there is no way I can - so I know how you feel. Good luck

How much coverage of P do you have ?? Also do you know what you P is called ?? I have the rarest form of psoriasis which is erythroderma psoriasis which covers all of my body, and I don't really have any scales or lesions just red hot itchy skin. I am really hoping that the aloe vera plant will lighten my skin.

My daughter had plaque p and swam regularly for a swimming club, if anything the pool water improved her p!
would be really interested to find out if the aloe vera has any effect on your p - it has calming and soothing properties so could help with the inflammation

I use to have a aloe vera plant and used it for burns and cuts and it worked wonders, hmmmm haven't thought of that in years.
also, i also found that the swimming pool helped my p, not sure why.

Hi, When I went to Gran Canaria a couple of years ago I used pure aloe on my skin by cutting the stem from the plant and rubbing directly on but it dries out in a couple of minutes and made my skin dry and itchy.  I then bought some natural Aloe Vera spray with no other ingredients to spray on as often as you wish, it wasn't sticky and dried quickly so it didn't stain your clothes but unfortunately did nothing for me.
I didn't find it very mosturising either.

Hey Nicky I am having the same reaction with the plant it was making me really itchy so I decided to stop using it cuz the itching was making me more rashy. I know I just posted about it yesterday but I have been using the plant for 7 days now.

I did try some aloe gel, but I don't think I kept it up long enough.  It was very cooling, soothing.  My problem is I want to see instant results, and also the aloe products I was recommended were expensive, so I stopped before anything noticeable happened, but good luck with it and keep going!
