I've had P for about 12 years and this is the first time i've heard anything about diet helping psoriasis and I've seen no end of consultants.

This is going to be so hard for me to do as I am a single mum on benefits and its not going to be cheap, but having the will power to stick to something along these lines is going to be impossible. My son is 2 he eats a lot of fruit and veg so that bit will be ok but not having potatoes or baked foods in the house is going to be hard. There isn't a lot of stuff that i eat to start with but i'm willing to give it a shot. Will empty the freezer and cupboards of all evil foods and go shopping for the right stuff!!!

Fingers crossed it helps. x

Redbear, I like your attitude but it's best not to try to boil the ocean.  My suggestion:

1) Eliminate all (or nearly all) packaged goods.  Prepare all your food from scratch, if at all possible.

2) Eliminate dairy and gluten from your diet.  This is a BIG deal.  Substitute these items with fruits, veggies and seeds/nuts.  Yes, you are likely to lose some weight in the beginning.

3) Moderate on nightshades (potatoes/tomatoes) until you have a good sense on whether they aggravate your psoriasis.

4) Keep a keen eye on how your skin responds to what you eat.  A wide variety of food has been reported to trigger psoriasis in different people.  Dairy and gluten sensitivity are the most common.  But some reported food sensitivities are rather rare.

5) Take probiotics daily, or get in the mode of making your own fermented veggies (pickles, sauerkraut).

After 90-120 days you can test yourself specifically wrt dairy/gluten by eating bits of each and seeing how your skin responds.  You might find these foods don't actually bother your psoriasis, or you can perhaps get away with eating small amounts once in awhile.

Oh, and study up on diet and psoriasis(/autoimmune diseases) from various online and printed resources.  Be patient, and don't give up!

Diets don't cause nor improve any diseases

I also recommend the film: “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead” by Joe Cross

“Joe became ill with a rare disease – an autoimmune condition that caused rashes and inflammation to cover his skin from head to toe. There is no known cure for his condition, and with flare-ups happening on a regular basis, Joe found himself taking vast quantities of medications to retain any quality of life at all”

It is about improving your health, losing weight, naturally treating an autoimmune condition and coming off medication just by changing your diet.

In this case: juicing

Personally, I found the first half of the film to be a bit slow going and I didn’t like the cartoons used, but it gets really good and amazingly inspirational after the viewer is introduced to Phil the truck driver.

On YouTube search for: “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead Extended Trailer”. It goes for 5.24 minutes.

And if that is too long for you (!), then the “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead Official Trailer”, only goes for 2.42 minutes

When you watch the whole film, at the end of the credits you see Phil finally fit into his kangaroo shirt and it brings a tear to the eye with how far he has come within such a short space of time.

I don't suffer from insanity....I enjoy every minute of it!

Nothing cures Psoriasis. All of us know that. The idea is to MANAGE Psoriasis, just like how we asthma which is also not curable. Diet is undoubtedly one good way to manage psoriasis. Sceptics can say whatever they want. But I firmly believe there’s merit in diet systems like the one by Pagano. I’ve not heard of Floyd Chilton, but I’m going to buy the book and read it.
